Panthers | Cam Newton tests ankle

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (ankle) tested his surgically repaired ankle Tuesday, June 17, and did more than head coach Ron Rivera was expecting. Newton did not participate in any team drills after taking three and five-step drops on passes to wide receivers. "I think I'm on schedule to make a speedy recovery," Newton said after practice. "We are in the last curve and I am just trying to be smart about it, do everything that the trainers ask of me and more and see where that gets me."
Newton appears to be right on track in his recovery from ankle surgery. As long as there are no setbacks, he should be good to go for training camp.
