Falcons | Mike Smith wants bigger, strong lines

Atlanta Falcons head coach Mike Smith is calling for major improvement on both sides of the line of scrimmage. He fears the team could bottom out for a second straight year if they do not change for the better. "I feel like we've lost our way," Smith said Tuesday, April 22. "I feel like I've lost my way a little. The emphasis along the way is to be a bigger and stronger football team and win the line of scrimmage."
Smith said the team was hurt last season by a lack of strength and size up front. They ranked last in rushing, and QB Matt Ryan was sacked a career-high 44 times.
If the team is able to shore up the offensive line, Ryan might re-emerge as a top fantasy option after a trying season. While he loses Tony Gonzalez as a reliable target, he is expected to have healthy targets in Julio Jones and Roddy White. As long as that dynamic duo is healthy, and the protective is improved, Ryan is a Top 10 fantasy option.
