Panthers | Cam Newton pressing?

Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith thinks QB Cam Newton is pressing in the early season. "What the current issue is, you have a young player pressing," Smith said. "And what do I mean by pressing? You know when a young player, a receiver, if he doesn't get a lot of passes, all of sudden instead of going down he fights for that extra yard, fumble. That's what you're seeing with Cam a little bit, I feel like, in the past game is, well, (imitates stammering) and now you got that pressing." Newton went 21-for-38 for 229 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in the Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He overthrew his receivers often, however.
Newton has been wildly inconsistent with his downfield throws, which has left his fantasy owners yearning for more. He can make things happen with his legs, but until he proves he can beat defenses deep consistently, he may be a headache in fantasy circles.
