Falcons | Tony Gonzalez feels fine after exhibition debut

Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez felt fine after he made his preseason debut this past weekend. He believes that his conditioning and explosion off the line of scrimmage can improve, but he was happy with his effort. Gonzalez finished with two receptions for 21 yards, on two targets. He said he doesn't want to play in the team's final preseason contest, which is slated for Thursday, Aug. 29, against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Gonzalez is still a top-five fantasy tight end, even at age 37 and in his 17th season. He may slow down a little or get off to a slow start because of his conditioning, but there shouldn't be much of a drop-off -- if there is one -- for the certain Hall of Famer. Initially he was expected to play in the team's final pair of preseason affairs, so we'll see if Mike Smith meets Gonzo's desires for this last one. Reportedly, Smith may be motivated to play some of his starters, period, because he was unhappy with their effort in that last game.
