Miami Dolphins RB Lamar Miller is considered the front-runner for the starting running back job, although RB Daniel Thomas said Tuesday, May 14, that he shouldn't be overlooked. "I don't know why (Miller) would have the inside track," Thomas said. "It's an open competition. Everybody has a fair shot. The best player is going to get the job. Nobody has a leg up. I'm looking to be that guy. That's why I put the work in."
Thomas worked in Arizona with other NFL players during the offseason, working to make his legs stronger after knee surgery. He averaged 3.6 yards per tote on 91 carries last season, while Miller averaged 4.9 on 51 carries.
