Tue, 14 Jan 2014 16:22:55 -0800

San Francisco Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval said he has lost 42 pounds so far this offseason, and he's playing in the Venezuelan Winter League playoffs. Sandoval ballooned up to 280 pounds last year while dealing with a foot injury that put him on the disabled list. He's entering the final year of his three-year, $17.15 million deal, and general manager Brian Sabean is open to discussing a contract extension this spring.
