Nationals | Looking to trade for starter
Wed, 06 Nov 2013 12:30:23 -0800

The Washington Nationals want to trade for an elite starting pitcher, and Detroit Tigers SP Max Scherzer could be at the top of their list, as well as Tampa Bay Rays SP David Price. Scherzer was general manager Mike Rizzo's last first-round pick as the Arizona Diamondbacks scouting director in 2006. The price in prospects for Scherzer will be lower than it is for Price. The Nationals also have a strong relationship with Scherzer's agent, Scott Boras. According to sources, the Tigers are in the "listening, not shopping" mode on Scherzer.
