Royals | Greg Holland to keep job as closer
Sun, 07 Apr 2013 10:03:26 -0700

Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said RP Greg Holland would remain the team's closer despite blowing a save against the Philadelphia Phillies Saturday, April 6, where he walked three consecutive batters before eventually allowing a bases-clearing walkoff double with two outs. "Greg was throwing 97 miles an hour," Yost said. "He had his good fastball. In Chicago (on Thursday) and all spring, what made me a little nervous, is he was 91-92. (Saturday) night, he got his good fastball back. When he was missing, he wasn't all over the place. He was missing by that much (holding his thumb and forefinger an inch apart). Everybody looks at the end result. It's not always just that. This is just a simple adjustment. With another umpire behind home plate, he might not have given up a run. Some of those pitches might have been rung up (for strikes). I thought he had (Chase) Utley struck out."
