Tigers | Victor Martinez won't return this year

Detroit Tigers C Victor Martinez (knee) will not return later this season. Martinez tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in spring training. "He has worked extremely hard to give himself a shot at coming back this year," trainer Kevin Rand said. "But unfortunately the leg strength isn't there." Martinez is expected to be at full strength for spring training next year, and he'll begin a running program a month earlier this offseason.
