Bills | Marquise Goodwin in protocol

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 11:55:33 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Marquise Goodwin (concussion) is in the NFL's concussion protocol, according to head coach Rex Ryan.

Fantasy Tip: If Goodwin can stay healthy he could earn the No. 3 wide receiver job in Buffalo. That's a big if, though, as Goodwin has only played in 24 games over the last three seasons. He is at best only a late-round flier in standard leagues.

Bills | Sammy Watkins will play Friday

Tue, 23 Aug 2016 11:37:06 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is good to go against the Washington Redskins Friday, Aug. 26. He won't play much, but head coach Rex Ryan believes he's ready.

Fantasy Tip: It's definitely a positive step in Watkins' recovery. If he doesn't aggravate his foot injury then he should be fine for the start of the regular season. He's snugly in WR2 territory.

Bills | Mike Gillislee favored for No. 2 back

Mon, 22 Aug 2016 15:29:52 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (concussion) is "probably the No. 2 back right now", according to head coach Rex Ryan. Gillislee is still in the concussion protocol, however.

Fantasy Tip: Gillislee played pretty well when he was given the opportunity last year, averaging 5.7 yards on 47 carries. He will be competing with Jonathan Williams, Reggie Bush and others, but he's worth a look in the later rounds of deeper leagues, especially for those who are drafting LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Karlos Williams was gaining weight

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 20:57:30 -0700

Updating a previous report, Buffalo Bills RB Karlos Williams was beginning to gain the weight he had lost, demonstrating to the team he was not serious about football, a source said Saturday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: It might be a while before Williams re-surfaces, if he does at all. He has plenty of talent and NFL ability, but until he gets his conditioning under control he'll likely be on the unemployment line and off the fantasy radar.

Bills | LeSean McCoy visits the end zone

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 16:21:34 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy was held to no yards on five carries, but he caught four passes for 58 yards - including a 13-yard touchdown - against the New York Giants on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy's rushing total is a bit sobering, but neither team did much on the ground. Still, the elusive 28-year-old is a low-end RB1 in all leagues when healthy and his ability to contribute in the passing game is a big reason why. In theory, Karlos Williams' release on Saturday should lock him "Shady" into a 20-touch-per-game workload and perhaps free up some more touchdown opportunities after he managed only five combined scores a season ago.

Bills | Reggie Bush expected to win No. 2 RB job

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 14:51:49 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Reggie Bush has been considered the favorite to serve as the direct backup for RB LeSean McCoy since the former was signed earlier this month, even before the release of Karlos Williams, according to ESPN.com's Mike Rodak.

Fantasy Tip: This is a bit of an upset since it was thought Karlos Williams, Mike Gillislee and rookie Jonathan Williams were vying for the job. At the moment, however, only Jonathan Williams is available to compete with Bush. For now, owners need to consider Bush the handcuff to own in Buffalo and a player worthy of a late-round fantasy draft pick, especially given McCoy's recent off-field indiscretions and injury history.

Bills | Mike Gillislee leaves with head injury

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 14:17:50 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB Mike Gillislee (head) left the game following a hard hit at the end of the first quarter on Saturday, Aug. 20, against the New York Giants and is being evaluated for concussion.

Fantasy Tip: There should be another update on Gillislee's status shortly. In the wake of Karlos Williams' release earlier in the day and this injury, rookie Jonathan Williams has a chance to make a move in his quest to secure No. 2 duties behind LeSean McCoy.

Bills | Sammy Watkins sidelined

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 12:34:28 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Sammy Watkins (foot) is not playing against the New York Giants Saturday, Aug. 20.

Fantasy Tip: Watkins should still be good to go for the regular season opener as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks. He's comfortably in WR2 territory as the Bills' only legitimate receiving threat.

Bills | Karlos Williams released

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 11:39:04 -0700

Updating a previous report, the Buffalo Bills have officially released RB Karlos Williams.

Fantasy Tip: The 23-year-old Williams collected 517 rushing yards and averaged 5.6 yards per carry during his rookie season but was suspended for four games after violating the NFL's substance abuse policy and showed up at camp grossly overweight. Chances are that another NFL club will take a flier on him because of his potential, making him worthy of consideration in the later rounds of traditional drafts. RBs Reggie Bush, Mike Gillislee and Jonathan Williams should see slight increases in fantasy value backing up starter LeSean McCoy and should also be viewed as late-round considerations.

Bills | Karlos Williams likely to be released

Sat, 20 Aug 2016 11:10:15 -0700

The Buffalo Bills are expected to release RB Karlos Williams, according to a league source.

Fantasy Tip: Williams showed up to minicamp last month 20-25 pounds overweight and will be suspended for the first four games of the regular season for violating the league's substance abuse policy, so word of his pending release shouldn't be a complete surprise, despite possessing a great deal of talent. Mike Gillislee now appears poised to serve as LeSean McCoy's primary backup in Buffalo and should be viewed as a solid RB5. Williams is likely to be picked up by another team and is worth considering as a late-round flier in traditional seasonal leagues.
