Bills | LeSean McCoy practicing

Fri, 04 Sep 2015 12:08:42 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) is participating in practice Friday, Sept. 4.

Fantasy Tip: McCoy ($7,000, 14.0% of cap) has been sidelined for a few weeks because of the hamstring injury but appears to have a chance to play Week 1. Owners will have to check on his practice participation next week because he could be a solid option on FantasyScore.

Bills | Dan Carpenter on hot seat?

Fri, 04 Sep 2015 01:55:15 -0700

Buffalo Bills PK Dan Carpenter may be on the bubble for 2015, as he appears to be in head coach Rex Ryan's doghouse entering the season. "I'm tired of seeing us miss a field goal. We'll certainly be looking. Nobody earns this job by default," Ryan said.

Fantasy Tip: Don't be surprised if Ryan pulls the trigger and cuts Carpenter before the final roster trims are made. This could be a case where someone is on thin ice.

Bills | Andre Davis has stepped up game

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 19:37:28 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Andre Davis has stepped up his game, outperforming seventh-round drat pick WR Dezmin Lewis during training camp and the preseason. The undrafted pick might have at least positioned himself for a practice squad spot after working his way up the ranks.

Bills | Dezmin Lewis is a raw project

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 19:36:50 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Dezmin Lewis is a raw receiver who has showed glimpses of brilliance in training camp and the preseason. He might be headed for the practice squad, although the team could keep him on the active roster rather than risk losing him via waivers.

Bills | Deonte Thompson might need big game

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 19:36:06 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Deonte Thompson (undisclosed) has put the heat on WRs Marquise Goodwin and Chris Hogan for the fifth and sixth spots on the active roster, and his performance in training camp and preseason might force the team to keep seven receivers on the 53-man roster. He might need another big performance in the preseason finale Thursday, Sept. 3, but he is dealing with an undisclosed injury.

Bills | Matt Simms might still make roster

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 19:35:27 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Simms is not believed to be in line to make the 53-man roster, and "the odds are stacked against" him according to head coach Rex Ryan. However, if the team elects to cut QBs Matt Cassel or EJ Manuel, that could change things dramatically.

Bills | Marcus Thigpen digging in for spot

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 19:34:59 -0700

Buffalo Bills WR Marcus Thigpen was considered outside looking in at the start of training camp and the preseason, but he has proved his worth in the return game and is making it difficult on the team to cut him from the 53-man roster.

Bills | Odds stacked against Chris Gragg

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 19:34:29 -0700

Buffalo Bills TE Chris Gragg was considered a long shot to make the 53-man roster, but he is still around and has had a strong training camp and preseason. The team is likely to keep four tight ends, and that bodes well for Gragg.

Bills | LeSean McCoy could limited in Week 1

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 10:35:07 -0700

Updating an earlier report, Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) may not be in great "football shape" once Week 1 rolls around, according to a source. He's not at full speed in practice but is doing rehab work including light footwork, agility and cardio conditioning. A source told ESPN's Josina Anderson McCoy's MRI showed, what was described internally as, a "small tear," adding: "They say it tore in a spot where it couldn't have been any better for us. It tore in a spot that is kind of high up, surrounded by stronger muscles in the glutes and things like that."

Fantasy Tip: McCoy doesn't sound like a great daily play on FantasyScore for Week 1, but he's still a legit RB1 in traditional leagues. Anthony Dixon and Bryce Brown could be one-week plays in the opener.

Bills | Concern LeSean McCoy won't be ready?

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 09:32:19 -0700

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) seems to be in some danger of missing the season opener Sept. 13. "Well we certainly expect him to be ready to go, I hope," coach Rex Ryan said Monday, Aug. 31. "If not then the next man has to step up. Boobie (Anthony Dixon) got a lot of reps out there today. Bryce Brown got a lot of reps today. So we will see. I am not going to put that all on one man. If he is not ready to go, he won't be in there."

Fantasy Tip: Keep an eye on the situation if you're a McCoy owner, obviously. However, this also means that Dixon and/or Brown could be excellent one-week plays in traditional leagues and FantasyScore.

Bills | EJ Manuel expected to be No. 2

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 08:32:30 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB EJ Manuel is expected to remain on the team as the backup quarterback. There is growing expectations that QB Matt Cassel will be cut.

Fantasy Tip: Neither quarterback has any fantasy value behind Tyrod Taylor.

Bills | Matt Cassel could be cut

Wed, 02 Sep 2015 06:21:37 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Matt Cassel could be cut by the team, as they are internally discussing the option.

Fantasy Tip: Cassel has no fantasy value as a backup and would only have depth value if he were to start elsewhere.

Bills | Tyrod Taylor has support of teammates

Tue, 01 Sep 2015 10:24:15 -0700

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor has the support of his teammates after he was named the team's starting quarterback heading into Week 1. "He's going to be tremendous for this team," said WR Percy Harvin . "With the weapons that we already have I think teams have to worry about that, but now they have to worry about his legs too with the 4.4 speed he puts on the field I think is going to be tremendously dangerous for opponents to prepare for us." Taylor has speed, but he also impressed this preseason with his accuracy from the pocket. He was 19-for-23 for 187 yards and a passer rating of 100.5 when he started with the first-team.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his accuracy and impressiveness during the preseason, Taylor is still a work in progress with his arm. He has plenty of weapons around him in this offense, but Buffalo's committment to the run will limit his fantasy ceiling this season as a low-end QB2.
