Bills | Tyrod Taylor hopes to remain in Buffalo

Thu, 28 Jan 2016 10:33:30 -0800

Buffalo Bills QB Tyrod Taylor threw for 3,035 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns and six interceptions in his first season as a starter after spending four years as a little-used backup for the Baltimore Ravens. The first-time Pro Bowler, who added 568 yards and four more touchdowns as a runner, hopes 2015 was the first of many seasons in western New York. "Of course, I want to be the long-term guy. I love playing for the organization, I love playing for the coaches, I love being around the guys. Like I said, I want to be the long-term guy for them. Ultimately, that's up to them," Taylor said.

Fantasy Tip: Bills general manager Doug Whaley cast some doubt on Taylor's long-term future earlier this offseason by suggesting Buffalo wouldn't think twice about drafting a quarterback if the right one fell in its lap. As such, his long-term future is up in the air at the moment. Even if Whaley goes in that direction, the 26-year-old Taylor will be the overwhelming favorite to start for Buffalo again in 2016 and push to be a high-ceiling/low-end QB1 for fantasy purposes.

Bills | Robert Woods losing starting job?

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 12:22:24 -0800

Buffalo Bills WR Robert Woods was mentioned in a group of wide receivers by general manager Doug Whaley who are considered not to be No. 2 receivers. Whaley said the Bills have a mix of guys who may not be bona fide No. 2 receivers, but who they can use in different roles.

Fantasy Tip: Woods' play has been fairly lackluster over the course of his career. He has played well particularly when Sammy Watkins has been injured, but when Watkins is healthy there's not really another big receiving threat, as Whaley alluded to. Woods may still need to fight for a starting wide receiver position this offseason.

Bills | Aaron Williams, Kyle Williams will be back

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 10:24:23 -0800

Buffalo Bills FS Aaron Williams (neck) will be back in 2016, according to general manager Doug Whaley. "Everything we heard, if we would've made the playoffs today, they would've put him in there and activated," Whaley said. "So he's ready to go. So we're excited about that." DT Kyle Williams (knee) is also "on track," although he's likely to miss some offseason activities.

Bills | Buffalo GM hesitant about QB class

Wed, 27 Jan 2016 10:04:04 -0800

Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley doesn't really see a quarterback from the 2016 draft class that would be ready to step into a starting role in the NFL immediately.

"I think it's a deep crop and I think it's a crop that's going to need some time," Whaley said. "Now, it depends on their situation, who takes them and what they do. But I would say it's not as top-heavy as last year where those top two guys would still be the top two guys. How quickly these guys can matriculate into the league, I think it's going to take a little bit of time. Maybe a year, maybe a half of a year."

Fantasy Tip: The Bills aren't sold on Tyrod Taylor enough to give him an extension, even though he outperformed almost everyone's expectations in 2015. The starting QB job should be Taylor's to lose next year, but he'll likely have competition. If he wins the job again, he'll be a strong QB2 for fantasy owners.

Bills | Buffalo could draft quarterback

Tue, 26 Jan 2016 17:19:35 -0800

Buffalo Bills general manager Doug Whaley said he would consider taking a quarterback early in the draft. "If [the opportunity] presents itself, it makes sense and it's a guy we like, and we believe in, absolutely," Whaley said.

Fantasy Tip: Interesting comments from Whaley considering Tyrod Taylor exceeded expectations in 2015. Who knows how much traction his words will take as the draft nears, but one would think Buffalo's starting quarterback job is Taylor's to lose.

Bills | Buffalo doesn't have much cap space

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 09:50:12 -0800

The Buffalo Bills don't have much room to work with the salary cap this offseason, and OG Richie Incognito and OT Cordy Glenn are priorities to be re-signed. The Bills 2016 salary cap is projected to be somewhere between the $150 million and $156 million, and it was $143 million last year.

Bills | Buffalo wants Percy Harvin back

Fri, 22 Jan 2016 09:48:37 -0800

The Buffalo Bills are open to a return of WR Percy Harvin (hip) in 2016, according to general manager Doug Whaley. Harvin's hip problems limited him to just five games this year, and he has an automatic opt-out clause in his contract, which will make him a free agent this offseason. Buffalo would likely have to re-sign Harvin to a cost-conscious type of deal since they have limited salary cap space.

Fantasy Tip: The biggest problem with Harvin is his inability to stay on the football field. He's played in a full season only once in his eight-year career. For that reason alone, he's an extremely risky fantasy pick wherever he lands.
