Ravens | Breshad Perriman has chance to play

Mon, 29 Aug 2016 17:20:15 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Breshad Perriman (knee) will play in the final preseason game if he is cleared by the doctors, according to head coach John Harbaugh. Harbaugh said he would like to see Perriman play before the regular season begins.

Fantasy Tip: Perriman has not played in a game since being drafted last season and could use some work before Week 1. He likely will be the No. 3 or No. 4 receiver for the Ravens this season and could see a decent number of targets. Perriman could be a late-round option in deeper leagues.

Ravens | Two Ravens TEs on the mend

Mon, 29 Aug 2016 09:47:17 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Dennis Pitta (finger) and TE Maxx Williams (undisclosed) are expected to return to practice shortly after the final preseason game Thursday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: The loss of Benjamin Watson (Achilles') for the season opened a gaping hole at tight end that only Crockett Gillmore is healthy enough to fill for now. Pitta has the most upside if he can return to something resembling his pre-injury form. All three are in the TE2 area in fantasy until someone separates themselves from the pack.

Baltimore Ravens WR Dobson Collins, WR Chuck Jacobs, QB Jerrod Johnson and WR Darius X. White were cut Monday, Aug. 29.

Ravens | Two Ravens to IR

Mon, 29 Aug 2016 07:00:33 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Benjamin Watson (Achilles') and CB Kyle Arrington (undisclosed) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Aug. 29.

Fantasy Tip: The Ravens' depth at tight end has been decimated by injury, and Crockett Gillmore is the last one standing. He's little more than a TE2 in fantasy. Dennis Pitta could resurface into the fantasy spotlight if he has anything left after two major hip injuries.

Ravens | Kenneth Dixon likely out four weeks

Sun, 28 Aug 2016 14:50:37 -0700

Updating a previous story, Baltimore Ravens RB Kenneth Dixon (knee) is expected to miss four weeks with a MCL tear that will not require surgery, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Although the injury will end a promising preseason, it appears Dixon got the best diagnosis he could have hoped for considering how bad the injury looked. The four-way timetable means Dixon has a shot at returning by Week 2, which should be more than enough time - assuming his return isn't rushed - to make his move in a crowded Baltimore backfield with no clear leader. The rookie is still worth a grab in the final rounds of deeper leagues.

Ravens | Kenneth Dixon's injury not serious

Sun, 28 Aug 2016 07:00:36 -0700

Updating previous reports, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said RB Kenneth Dixon's (knee) sprained knee isn't considered overly serious.

Fantasy Tip: Dixon has had a strong preseason and could be worth a late-round flier in fantasy leagues containing 12 or more teams, although Justin Forsett, Javorius Allen, Lorenzo Taliaferro and Terrance West will also be battling for carries in the Baltimore backfield.

Ravens | Mike Wallace targeted frequently

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 19:50:42 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Mike Wallace was targeted six times in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Detroit Lions, posting three receptions for 37 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Wallace was targeted more after Ben Watson left the game with a serious injury. He has the chance to rebound nicely in Baltimore, as injuries have created a huge opportunity. He should be targeted as a WR4 in most fantasy formats.

Ravens | Kenneth Dixon nursing knee sprain

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 18:45:17 -0700

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens RB Kenneth Dixon (knee) suffered a sprained knee in the preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Detroit Lions and he was unable to return.

Fantasy Tip: Dixon has plenty of company in the backfield, and an injury does him no favors as he tries to carve out his piece of the pie. For now, he is only worth a look in the later rounds on draft day in fantasy leagues of 12 or more teams, and if his injury is determined to be serious he can be left to the waiver wire. It would be good news for Javorius Allen and Lorenzo Taliaferro, as well as Justin Forsett.

Ravens | Kenneth Dixon injured Saturday

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 17:35:37 -0700

Baltimore Ravens RB Kenneth Dixon (knee) was carried off the field Saturday, Aug. 27, after suffering a lower-body injury on a goal-line run against the Detroit Lions.

Fantasy Tip: Offensive coordinator Marc Trestman was hoping for some clarity from his backfield over the final two weeks of the preseason, and Dixon was providing some with six carries for 41 yards before exiting. While there has been talk about a four-man committee in Baltimore, the rookie is the only running back on the roster that has displayed any consistent explosiveness this month, so owners in deeper leagues could do much worse than invest a late pick into him.

Ravens | Ben Watson suffers torn Achilles'

Sat, 27 Aug 2016 16:39:43 -0700

Baltimore Ravens TE Benjamin Watson (Achilles') left the field after only two plays Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Detroit Lions, and was later diagnosed with a torn Achilles', ending his season.

Fantasy Tip: It's a crushing blow as the Ravens lured Watson away from the New Orleans Saints this offseason with a two-year, $7 million deal. The nature of the injury is such that it is possible they might get no return on investment on the 35-year-old tight end. With Dennis Pitta and Maxx Williams sidelined by injuries, Baltimore is already down to Crockett Gillmore at the position. If Pitta and Williams are unable to heal quickly, Gillmore could be the Week 1 starter and have the same kind of TE2 impact he had last season.

Ravens | Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil likely sitting

Thu, 25 Aug 2016 13:35:33 -0700

Ravens | Two Baltimore receivers won't play

Thu, 25 Aug 2016 13:29:47 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WRs Steve Smith (Achilles') and Breshad Perriman (knee) are not expected to play Saturday, Aug. 27, against the Detroit Lions. They did not practice Thursday, Aug. 25.

Fantasy Tip: Both players have been dealing with injuries this offseason, and Smith is especially no surprise to be sitting out preseason action. Perriman is more disappointing as we haven't seen much of him over his first two years. As it stands, Smith is in low-end WR3 to high-end WR4 territory, while Perriman is more of a deep flier in later rounds.

Ravens | Breshad Perriman has better hands

Wed, 24 Aug 2016 10:53:05 -0700

Baltimore Ravens WR Breshad Perriman has shown better pass catching ability during training camp, according to offensive coordinator Marc Trestman. "I think his hands and his concentration have even gotten better since he first got here," Trestman said. "He's much more sure-handed -- not that he wasn't -- but he's become even more sure-handed and I think that goes with confidence."

Fantasy Tip: Perriman's hands have been questioned dating back to college, but he also missed his entire rookie season, which is likely a bigger hurdle. Also, with Steve Smith, Kamar Aiken and Mike Wallace currently ahead of Perriman, the sophomore has a steep climb to being a reliable fantasy commodity. His size and speed remain intriguing, but he still hasn't shown anything on the field to elevate him above late-round flier territory.
