Bryant ruled ineligible for rest of season ESPNews reports Oklahoma State junior WR Dez Bryant has been ruled ineligible for the rest of the season because he failed to disclose information to the NCAA about a relationship with a former NCAA player. NCAA | Surgery possible for Bradford ESPN reports Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford (shoulder) said shoulder surgery remains a possibility. NCAA | S. Johnson drops weight bar on throat Ted Miller, of ESPN.com, reports Southern California RB Stafon Johnson (throat) dropped a weight bar on his throat Monday, Sept. 28, and required emergency surgery. Johnson was bench pressing when the bar slipped and fell on his throat, according to the school. A source close to the program said Johnson was immediately coughing up blood. It is unclear how long he will be out for, but Johnson is unlikely to play Saturday, Oct. 3. Head strength and conditioning coach Chris Carlisle said Johnson was using a spotter at the time of the accident. NCAA | Blunt suspended for season ESPN.com reports the University of Oregon has suspended RB LeGarrette Blount has been suspended for the rest of the season for punching a Boise State player Thursday, Sept. 3. The suspension includes any bowl games the team might play in. NCAA | G. Paulus joining Syracuse Jeff Goodman, of FOXSports.com, reports Duke University basketball player Greg Paulus, who worked out earlier this year with NFL teams, plans to join Syracuse and battle for the starting quarterback duties. If he receives a waiver from the NCAA, he will have one year of eligibility in college. NCAA | Spikes will return for senior season ESPNews reports University of Florida LB Brandon Spikes will return to school for his senior season. NCAA | Hardy will return for senior season The Associated Press reports University of Mississippi DL Greg Hardy will return to school for his senior season. Tebow said he would like to lead the team to another championship. NCAA | Bradford considering options before declaring for draft Tim Griffin, of ESPN.com, reports University of Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford told the Oklahoman he will consider all options before making a decision whether to declare for the 2009 NFL Draft. Bradford said he and his father, Kent, plan to consult with NFL coaches, general managers and scouts to get as much as information as possible before deciding whether to return to the Sooners next year. Bradford has two years of eligibility remaining. NCAA | McCoy to return for senior season ESPN.com reports University of Texas QB Colt McCoy said he will return for his senior season, according to the Austin American-Statesman. NCAA | Orakpo to miss game Saturday Next Level Scouting, Inc. reports Texas senior DL Brian Orakpo (knee) will not play Saturday, Nov. 8, versus Baylor after suffering a sprained left knee in the team's loss last weekend. Team officials do not expect the injury to be a long-term issue and some say he could return as early as next week. NCAA | R. Leaf resigns from school ESPN.com reports West Texas A&M quarterbacks coach Ryan Leaf has resigned from the school. Leaf has been on leave of absence for personal reasons. A person briefed on the situation said Leaf asked a West Texas A&M player for a pill to help him deal with lingering pain from his NFL days, according to ESPN's Joe Schad. NCAA | Beckum to miss remainder of 2008 season J.J. Pesavento, of Next Level Scouting, reports Wisconsin TE Travis Beckum (fibula) will miss the remainder of the 2008 season after undergoing surgery on a fractured left fibula. Pesavento, of Next Level Scouting, reports Northwestern RB Tyrell Sutton (wrist) will miss the rest of the 2008 season after undergoing surgery on his wrist. NCAA | C. McCoy plans to return for senior season ESPNews reports University of Texas QB Colt McCoy said he plans to return to school for his senior season. NCAA | Harper to have surgery next week Next Level Scouting reports Clemson senior QB Cullen Harper (shoulder) is planning to have surgery on his non-throwing shoulder next week. He could miss up to a month following the surgery, but he is also planning to undergo an MRI on his right shoulder. Harper is expected to return before the end of the season, but he may have already started the final game of his career with the school. Harper was recently invited to the Senior Bowl, according to sources, but there is no word on whether his current status or injury could create a change of heart in regards to him being invited. NCAA | Ingram to miss season Next Level Scouting, Inc. reports Florida TE Cornelius Ingram (knee) will miss the upcoming college football season after an MRI on his left knee revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Ingram had an MRI on his left knee Thursday, Aug. 7, to determine the extent of an injury he suffered during fall practice drills. Ingram had thought about declaring for the NFL Draft as an underclassmen, but felt returning for his senior year could help improve his grade with the hopes of being taken in the first round. NCAA | Dillard expected to miss season John Murphy, of Next Level Scouting, reports Virginia Tech WR Brandon Dillard (Achilles') is expected to miss the season after rupturing his right Achilles' tendon in offseason workouts. The school said Dillard was injured Tuesday, July 1. Hokies head trainer Mike Goforth said Dillard will have surgery next week at Montgomery Regional Hospital and will have four to six months of rehabilitation. NCAA | J. Johns charged with selling cocaine The Associated Press reports Alabama LB Jimmy Johns was arrested Tuesday, June 24, on charges of selling cocaine and possessing Ecstasy pills found at his home. Undercover investigators allegedly bought drugs from Johns. NCAA | K. Moreno named to Playboy All-American Team John Murphy, of Yahoo! NCAA | LSU QB Perrilloux kicked off team ESPN.com reports Louisiana State University said Friday, May 2, that head coach Les Miles kicked QB Ryan Perrilloux off the team. Perrilloux, who had been suspended three times in his college career, "didn't fulfill his obligation as an LSU student-athlete," Miles said. He did not offer details. Louisiana State added that Perrilloux is expected to finish out the spring semester at the school.
