Retired WR Randy Moss said he is open to a return to the NFL. "I actually have not lost the itch," Moss said Sunday, Aug. 23. "I've been working out with a few guys over the offseason. I have been retired for the last two years, but you never know. But it's the love of the game that I still have inside of me."

Free-agent RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (oblique) has been cleared by Dr. Bryan Kelly, the doctor who performed surgery on Green-Ellis last October to reattach his oblique muscle to the bone. Green-Ellis' agent has been in touch with teams, and Green-Ellis is optimistic a team will give him another chance this year. He thinks he's faster now than he was when he last played in 2013.
Fantasy Tip: The law firm is a big bruising back that would likely be used in short-yardage or goal-line situations if a team signs him. That could make him semi-valuable in deeper fantasy leagues if he signs with a team this year.

Free-agent RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis' (Bengals) agent has been in touch with teams, but they were waiting for the right situation to arise. "Oh, I'm ready," Green-Ellis said. "I've been training. I call them my 'Green-Ellis two-a-days.' I'm boxing, running hills, doing all kinds of football drills. For five weeks now, twice a day, working out like crazy. The Green-Ellis two-a-days."
Fantasy Tip: The law firm is 30 years old now but could be a diamond in the rough in the right situation.

Free-agent OG Evan Mathis (Eagles) appears to be close to signing with a new team, and a deal could happen at any point, according to a source.

Free-agent RB Ray Rice (Ravens) told ESPN's Jemele Hill in an interview that aired Tuesday, Aug. 4, he wants a chance to retire after playing. "I have a lot of hope and faith that I'll be able to hang 'em up the right way. That's what's keeping me going. That's what's keeping me working. My wife and my kid believe in me. They're pushing me harder sometimes than I can push myself. I just want to give it all," Rice said.
Fantasy Tip: Rice is 28 years old and nearing the expiration date for running backs, which is likely more of an issue for NFL teams than the domestic violence charge that led to Rice's suspension and release from the Ravens last season. Rice's yards per carry had plummeted to a woeful 3.1 in 2013, and it's difficult to have belief in a bounce back year.

Free-agent TE Chris Cooley (Redskins) is still considering a comeback, although he said Monday, July 27, in a radio interview that he does not anticipate a team signing him before the start of training camp. In addition, he is likely to join a contending team. "It would probably have to be a team that realisitically has a chance of winning this year. Teams that don't have a chance of winning don't sign 33-year-old tight ends," Cooley said.
Fantasy Tip: Cooley continues to work out in hopes of making a comeback, and if he does play in a game it would be his first since the 2012 NFL season. Fantasy owners obviously need to forget his name like they have for the past two seasons and only worry about him off the waiver wire should his comeback turn out to be surprisingly successful.

Free-agent RB Chris Johnson (Jets) said he's feeling explosive, healthy and is ready to play again.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson has been linked to the Dallas Cowboys several times this offseason. He could very well draw interest from other teams, but nothing is imminent as of now. Stay tuned to Johnson's status throughout the training camp period.
