NFL | New drug policy not yet ratified

Updating an ongoing story, the NFL has yet to ratify the new substance abuse policy that was approved by the NFL Players Association Friday, Sept. 12. Until the NFL officially ratifies the deal, all current suspensions remain intact.

NFL | Two-game suspensions for DUI

The NFL and the NFLPA agreed upon new rules for players convicted of driving under the influence (DUI) Friday, Sept. 12. That will now come with a two-game suspension. However, an NFL proposal to immediately suspend a player, owner, coach, team executive or league employee for a DUI arrest was rejected by the union.

NFL | League close to new drug agreement

The NFL and the Players Association are close to finalizing a new drug agreement that would bring human-grown hormone testing and changes to the marijuana policy. A new deal could result in reduced punishments for Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon, Denver Broncos WR Wes Welker and Dallas Cowboys CB Orlando Scandrick. Players could vote on the new deal as early as Friday, Sept. 12.

Former Baltimore Ravens RB Ray Rice reportedly told commissioner Roger Goodell in June that he punched his then-fiancee Janae Rice inside an elevator at Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This report contradicts Goodell's claim that the league didn't know exactly what happened before video evidence was released earlier this week.

NFL | Police allegedly sent Ray Rice tape to league

A police source said they sent the video of an altercation involving free-agent RB Ray Rice to an NFL executive five months ago. The executive acknowledged through a phone conversation that the tape was received.

NFL | Player reps not voting on drug policy

Updating a previous report, the NFL Players Association representatives from each team did not believe the latest drug policy from the NFL was worthy enough to vote on at this time. The NFL and NFLPA have been working on an agreement for neutral arbitration and HGH testing, but the two sides have not reached an agreement. It is not known if the NFLPA will continue negotiations or table them for the rest of the season.
