MLB | Rusney Castillo could arrive in 2014

Fri, 25 Jul 2014 10:41:28 -0700

Cuban free-agent OF Rusney Castillo could be in the big leages in 2014, even if he starts the season in the minor leagues after signing with a club. He's expected to join an organization soon after his showcase on Saturday, July 26, where he'll work out as an outfielder and a shortstop. Some comps MLB observers have established for the 5-foot-9, 185-pounder include New York Yankees OFs Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury, and former major leaguer Kenny Lofton. Scouts say the right-handed bat has some power and plus-plus speed.

Fantasy Tip: He's someone to take a stab on in single-universe games depending on where he signs. He probably won't be another Billy Hamilton, but his fleet feet should intrigue 2015 drafters.
