MLB | Hector Olivera injured?

Thu, 05 Mar 2015 16:02:44 -0800

Cuban 2B Hector Olivera may have a damaged ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing arm which could potentially be hindering him from signing a major league contract, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: With spring training already in progress and the threat of Tommy John surgery, it is unlikely Olivera gains any traction in time to be a viable fantasy option on draft day. The 29-year-old infielder is major league-ready and could be a worthy late-round flier, but he has to be healthy and sign with the right team first.

MLB | Chris R. Young nears decision on team

Tue, 03 Mar 2015 12:56:05 -0800

Free-agent SP Chris R. Young (Mariners) is nearing a decision on a team, and he is expected to sign by the end of the week.

Fantasy Tip: With a 12-9 record and 3.65 earned run average, you would have thought Young would be off the board by now. Still, with just 108 strikeouts compared to 60 walks and an injury history, this is why Young is considered a deep-round selection in most fantasy leagues.

Fri, 13 Feb 2015 10:13:27 -0800

Major League Baseball is considering altering the definition of the strike zone for the first time in almost two decades, as they fear that the low strike has taken too much offense out of the game, according to league sources. The MLB's Playing Rule Committee must adopt a rules change before it's implemented. The committee will pay attention to the strike zone this year with a change coming as early as 2016.
