The game between the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets for Monday, July 25, has been postponed due to inclement weather. It'll be made up as part of a doubleheader Tuesday, July 26. Cardinals SP Carlos Martinez had been set to face Mets SP Noah Syndergaard.
Fantasy Tip: Make sure you remove any players that you had in this game from your daily lineups.

Cuban 2B Jose Miguel Fernandez might be a factor in the second half as a contender looks for middle infielder help down the stretch. The market for Fernandez might become clearer around the Aug. 1 non-waiver deadline, after teams move pieces to open up spots.
Fantasy Tip: Fernandez is a name worth filing away, but for now he is only worth stashing away in the very deepest of long-term keeper formats and in leagues with an extremely deep bench. There are no certainties he appears in the majors in 2016.

Cuban 3B Yulieski Gourriel has been given clearance to sign with any major league team. Gourriel, 32, spent 2014 playing in Japan's Central League and returned to play for Cuba.
Fantasy Tip: Gourriel has some power, but he's more of a doubles hitter. He'll be a player to watch in single-universe leagues if he surfaces this season.

Fantasy Tip: Right now the veteran reliever is without a team, but Holland's fantasy value could improve greatly if he lands a closing job somewhere. Stay tuned to see where Holland lands as interest heats up. If you have a league with a very deep bench you may want to consider picking Holland up as he gets closer to a return.

Free-agent OF Jonny Gomes (Japanese League) said he is not retiring. The 35-year-old veteran, who played in the majors from 2003 to 2015, was playing with the Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Japanese League until two weeks ago, when he voluntarily parted ways with the club. Gomes hit just .169 in 75 plate appearances with Rakuten this year.
Fantasy Tip: If Gomes latches on with an MLB team, it would almost certainly be in a reserve role, which would limit his fantasy value to deep single-universe seasonal leagues.

Texas Rangers 2B Rougned Odor and Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista are expected to have their suspensions announced by Major League Baseball Tuesday, May 17, according to Joe Torre. Odor and Bautista were involved in a fight during the game Sunday, May 15.
Fantasy Tip: It's unknown how long both players will be banned, but it's likely to be something around a handful of games. Both players can appeal any punishment and would continue to be eligible to play while the league reviews the incident. Stay tuned for more information on how long Joey Bats and Odor will be out and act accordingly in leagues where you own them.

Free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants) has the most interest from the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Chicago White Sox. The San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners aren't interested. Lincecum isn't close to a decision.
Fantasy Tip: Lincecum's stuff plays better in the National League, but the Giants have been interested in him as a reliever. He could be worth a flyer depending on the park and league he lands in.

The game between the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres scheduled for Monday, May 9, is expected to have a lengthy delay or postponement due to rain that will be entering the Chicago area by late afternoon. The best-case scenario is that the game starts on time and rain throughout the middle to late innings is light enough to play through. Cubs SP Jon Lester is set to face off against Padres SP Cesar Vargas.
Fantasy Tip: While you probably don't want to bench any Cubs for this game in traditional formats, tread carefully in this one and be prepared to make lineup adjustments if necessary. Avoiding this game entirely in daily setups would be wise.

Fantasy Tip: If Lincecum lands a spot in a starting rotation, he would at least be worth a flier in single-league formats.

Free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants) looked good during a 41-pitch showcase for scouts from almost every major league team Friday, May 6. He threw a mix of pitches and was consistently hitting 88 to 91 mph with his fastball. Lincecum hasn't pitched since June 27 of last season with the San Francisco Giants. He's hoping to catch on with a team soon, preferably as a starter.
Fantasy Tip: Several teams have rotation issues and could probably use Lincecum, most notably the Angels. However, it remains to be seen how effective he can be in the big leagues after declining the past few seasons due to injuries. Keep him in your radar in deep mixed and NL-only leagues if he latches on with a team and is given a rotation spot.

Due to fears of the Zika virus in Puerto Rico, Major League Baseball is on the verge of canceling a trip to the country for the Pittsburgh Pirates and Miami Marlins scheduled for May 30-31 in San Juan, according to multiple sources familiar with the situation. Players and coaches from both teams have raised concerns about traveling to the country.
Fantasy Tip: This is unlikely to have a huge fantasy impact on the players either way, but if the Pirates and Marlins stay in the U.S., you won't have to worry about any negative implications for any players from those teams. Stay tuned on the final decision, but it looks like this trip won't happen.

Free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (Giants), who will throw in a showcase Friday, May 6, still wants to be a starter. The San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Washington Nationals, Baltimore Orioles and Miami Marlins are expected to be among the many teams attending the showcase. The Giants are interested in him as a reliever.
Fantasy Tip: Lincecum could be worth stashing in NL-only leagues. He has still shown the ability to strike hitters out, but his command has been an issue for years. He's a watch list player in mixed leagues.

Free-agent SP Tim Lincecum (hip) will put on a showcase for interested teams Friday, May 6. Dozens of scouts are expected to be in attendance, including the San Francisco Giants. The San Diego Padres and Baltimore Orioles are also expected to watch. Lincecum had surgery on his last September and didn't pitch after June 27 in 2015.
Fantasy Tip: Lincecum is a former shell of his Cy Young self after injuries have derailed his career. His velocity was noticeably down last year before his injury, and he relies more on control and deception now. There's no guarantee that he'll even sign with a team or be effective, so stay tuned. If he signs with a club and earns a roster spot, it could only be as a reliever, which would leave him little fantasy value.

Fantasy Tip: Remove all Braves and Cubs players from your fantasy lineups today.
Thu, 28 Apr 2016 17:39:07 -0700
Fantasy Tip: The 35-year-old Rios hit .255 with four home runs and 32 RBI in 385 at-bats for Kansas City in 2015 and could retire if no team comes forward with a suitable offer. If he does wind up signing somewhere, he should be viewed as an option exclusively for single-universe fantasy leagues.
