Former Kansas City Chiefs LB Mike Vrabel said Tuesday, July 12, that his decision to retire and join the Ohio State coaching staff as linebackers coach wasn't due to the lockout. "I thought in January when we lost to the (Baltimore Ravens) that I had played my last down in the NFL," Vrabel said. "Whether the league resumed in March, I don't know if I would have felt any better or any worse, but I'm comfortable with this decision."

The Detroit News reports former NFL head coach Bobby Ross said he retired in 2000 because of health reasons. Ross had blood clots in both of his legs and had to be hospitalized for five days. "I had to retire. I panicked, I got scared. I was wrong. My father was a double amputee. I just got scared," Ross said.
