He went through twisting exercises and other tests after the game without any problems and doesn't consider the issue to be serious.

Athletics | Sean Doolittle was set to pitch the ninth

Wed, 14 May 2014 16:05:48 -0700

Oakland Athletics manager Bob Melvin said RP Sean Doolittle was set to pitch the ninth inning Wednesday, May 14, if the team still had the lead.

Fantasy Tip: Jim Johnson isn't ready to take over the ninth-inning duties by himself yet, according to Melvin, so Doolittle, and maybe Luke Gregerson, will mix and match again in a committee approach. Doolittle should be reacquired in all leagues.

Cardinals | Joey Butler recalled

Fri, 09 May 2014 07:41:52 -0700

The St. Louis Cardinals recalled 1B/OF Joey Butler from Triple-A Memphis and optioned OF Randal Grichuk to Memphis.

Fantasy Tip: Butler was hitting .360 with four homers and 20 RBIs at Triple-A. He's a late bloomer at 28 and is worth picking up in NL-only leagues. However, he might not garner enough playing time to be more than a depth pickup. The move suggests Peter Bourjos will start seeing more playing time.

Cardinals | Peter Bourjos to play more frequently

Thu, 08 May 2014 10:44:37 -0700

St. Louis Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said to expect a more regular dose of OF Peter Bourjos in the lineup after the outfielder had five hits in two starts against the Atlanta Braves this week, including his first home run since June of last year.

Fantasy Tip: Matheny had been trying to find the right time to get Bourjos regular at-bats and get him going. It appears now is that time. A platoon split in center field with Jon Jay is still likely, though, which means Randal Grichuk might be out of luck.
