Falcons | Devonta Freeman to get deal before camp?

Mon, 24 Jul 2017 16:22:24 -0700

Atlanta Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said he would be happy if the team signed RB Devonta Freeman to a contract extension before the start of training camp Thursday, July 27, but will not worry if the negotiations continue during camp.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman has a good chance of receiving an extension at some point before the start of regular season, so owners should monitor the situation. He will continue to share time with Tevon Coleman at running back but will see most of the carries. He rushed for 1,079 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2016 and should be a solid No. 1 running back for fantasy owners.

Falcons | Matt Ryan has not started extension talks

Wed, 19 Jul 2017 11:02:05 -0700

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan said he has not started contract extension talks with the Falcons at this point. He said he is not concerned about his next contract but is happy that owner Arthur Blank said Ryan will be compensated for his play.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan threw for 4,944 yards and 38 touchdowns in 2016 and will have most of his offensive weapons back this season. He will be working with a new offensive coordinator but should be a No. 1 quarterback in most fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Austin Hooper worked out with Matt Ryan

Tue, 18 Jul 2017 09:04:26 -0700

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper recently joined QB Matt Ryan for three days of workouts in southern California in an effort to enhance the on-field chemistry between the two. "That's what L.A. was about ... another opportunity for me to work with the MVP and just understand exactly where he wants me to be and work routes that we both feel we can progress on," Hooper said.

Fantasy Tip: With all the weapons Ryan has at his disposal, it is going to be difficult for Hooper to enjoy a true breakout in 2017, but it shouldn't be all that hard for him to improve on his rookie season (19 catches, 271 yards and three touchdowns). At the very least, Hooper should be able to enter fantasy TE2 territory this season as he should absorb most of the playing time and production left behind by Jacob Tamme.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu has produced lowest drop rate

Mon, 10 Jul 2017 22:01:17 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu has registered the lowest drop rate of any receiver over the past two seasons, misplaying only three balls on 109 catchable passes (2.8 percent) within that span.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu has always boasted a reputation for having great hands, and this statistic further cements that. The 27-year-old is coming off a year in which he logged a career-high 59 catches for 653 yards and four touchdowns in his first year with the Falcons, and might be on the verge of putting up bigger numbers. He's definitely worth consideration as a WR3/FLEX option.

Falcons | Mohamed Sanu locked into No. 2 spot

Fri, 07 Jul 2017 20:16:08 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu solidified himself as the No. 2 receiver with his play last season, according to John Fricke of CBS Atlanta.

Fantasy Tip: Sanu may be the No. 2 option on paper, but there is a huge gap between Julio Jones and any other player in Atlanta's passing attack. Consider him a WR5 for fantasy purposes.

Falcons | Owner confident in Devonta Freeman deal

Mon, 26 Jun 2017 13:09:49 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman's potential long-term deal is likely to happen soon, according to owner Arthur Blank. "He's the kind of person you want to have on your team for all the right reasons," Blank said of Freeman. It has been reported that Freeman's deal could be done before training camp commences.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman has turned into one of the better running backs in the NFL even with Tevin Coleman taking away plenty of playing time. Deal or no deal, Freeman is easily an RB1 with PPR scoring and even in standard leagues.
