The team for free-agent LB Curtis Lofton (Falcons) is likely to point to the four-year, $36 million deal signed last August by New York Jets LB David Harris as a comparable deal for their client. It's uncertain if the Falcons will bring Lofton back at such a price. However, in each of his four seasons, Lofton has recorded more than 100 tackles, so his departure would leave a huge hole for the defense.

The team increased his number of plays late in the season and for the playoffs, however. He had a base salary of $8.5 million, and led the team with 9 1/2 sacks. If he returns, it will likely be at a reduced salary and as a designated pass-rush specialist.
