Falcons | Devonta Freeman with mixed bag against GB

Thu, 19 Jan 2017 07:19:23 -0800

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman rushed 11 times for 35 yards and a touchdown with four catches for 23 yards and another touchdown against the Green Bay Packers in Week 8.

Fantasy Tip: The Falcons were without Tevin Coleman, and it was a close game, but the team kind of gave up on the run. Without those two touchdowns, it would have been a poor fantasy output for Freeman. The Packers have allowed just 11.1 fantasy points per game to RBs in the playoffs and no touchdowns. Freeman has a tough matchup in the NFC title game, but he'll be in the second tier of RBs in playoff pools.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel will be limited

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 11:26:22 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel (foot) will be limited during practice Wednesday, Jan. 18.

Fantasy Tip: Gabriel was able to play in the Divisional round game and should be ready for the NFC Championship game this week. He has been targeted at least six times in four of the last five games and can be a No. 3 receiver or a flex option in most leagues.

Falcons | Julio Jones will not practice Wednesday

Wed, 18 Jan 2017 10:30:07 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) will not practice Wednesday, Jan. 18, by design, according to Falcons head coach Dan Quinn. Jones will "do more" later in the week, per Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: The all-world receiver should be in fantasy lineups if he dresses, which is the expectation. Green Bay's secondary is abysmal, so even a hobbled Jones should find some room.

Falcons | Matt Ryan on hot streak

Tue, 17 Jan 2017 16:21:28 -0800

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan has six consecutive seasons of at least 4,000 passing yards. That's tied for the second longest streak in NFL history. He posted a franchise record 4,944 yards in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan is a big reason why the Falcons are in the NFC title game. He's a top MVP candidate coming off a career season. Regression should be expected next season after such a marvelous campaign, but Ryan is still a QB1 consideration.

Falcons | Julio Jones should play in NFC Championship

Mon, 16 Jan 2017 09:20:12 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (toe) is expected to be limited during practice this week, but head coach Dan Quinn believes Jones will be "ready to rock" for the NFC Championship Game.

Fantasy Tip: Jones departed in the fourth quarter of the Falcons' Divisional Round victory over the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, but it was quickly reported he could have remained in the game had Atlanta not been ahead by multiple scores. Along with Antonio Brown and Julian Edelman, Jones should be in the running for top fantasy receiver honors next weekend when he gets a crack at the Green Bay Packers' shorthanded secondary.

Falcons | Julio Jones expected to be ready

Sun, 15 Jan 2017 09:16:02 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) is expected to be ready for the NFC Championship game even though he was limited in the Divisional Round playoff game, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

Fantasy Tip: Jones may be limited during practice next week but should receive his normal workload in the NFC Championship game. He is one of the best receivers in the NFL and is a No. 1 receiver in all fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Taylor Gabriel finishes with 71 yards

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 18:21:52 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Taylor Gabriel caught four of his six targets for 71 yards in a 36-20 win over the Seattle Seahawks Saturday, Jan. 14.

Fantasy Tip: There are a lot of mouths to feed in Atlanta's offense, but Gabriel's ability to turn a few catches into a bunch of yards has made him a quality fantasy starter.

Falcons | No concern for Julio Jones

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 17:58:02 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones' (foot) foot injury is not a cause for concern, according to head coach Dan Quinn, and Quinn said Jones could have returned against the Seattle Seahawks Saturday, Jan 14, if needed.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Jones should be just fine for the conference title game, and he is one of the most valuable fantasy assets at any position when he is on the field.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman finds the end zone

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 17:10:14 -0800

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman rushed for a game-high 57 yards on 11 carries and added three catches for 22 yards and a touchdown in the Divisional Round against the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman showed his usual elite burst on more than one occasion. He scored out of the backfield on a 14-yard pass near the end of the first half on a well-designed route that got him free in the end zone after the receivers executed a scissors route, leaving him all by himself near the sideline. All Coleman remains behind Freeman in the rotation, he should continue to produce enough to be an effective DFS option in the NFC Championship game next week.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman goes over 100 total yards

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 16:54:56 -0800

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman totaled 125 yards in a NFC Divisional Round win over the Seattle Seahawks, rushing for 45 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries and adding four catches for 80 yards.

Fantasy Tip: The rushing line isn't overly impressive, but Freeman did more than enough to make his DFS owners happy, scoring from a yard out in the third quarter. The highlight of his day was a 53-yard catch-and-run in the third quarter that set Atlanta up for a field goal on the drive after his score. Freeman will remain a very smart pick in all playoff formats next week regardless of whether the Falcons face the Dallas Cowboys or the Green Bay Packers.

Falcons | Matt Ryan torches Seahawks

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 16:50:20 -0800

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan went 26-of-37 for 338 yards and three touchdowns in a NFC Divisional Round win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan took three sacks but was in total control of the Falcons' up-tempo attack otherwise, connecting with Julio Jones, Tevin Coleman and Mohamed Sanu for scores. He did nothing to hurt his argument for NFL MVP, while offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was brilliant once again in getting the matchups he wanted. Ryan should have another field day next week if Julio Jones can play, as neither the Dallas Cowboys nor the Green Bay Packers have enough on defense to hold this passing game in check.

Falcons | Julio Jones unlikely to return

Sat, 14 Jan 2017 16:33:29 -0800

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones (foot) left the NFC Divisional Round game against the Seattle Seahawks with a foot injury. He is questionable to return.

Fantasy Tip: It is unclear whether or not Jones aggravated an existing toe sprain or suffered another injury. If his day is over, he will finish with six catches for 67 yards and a touchdown. Taylor Gabriel, Mohamed Sanu and Justin Hardy will wrap up the game as the Falcons' top three receivers.
