Falcons | Tony Moeaki the answer at TE?

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 16:10:15 -0700

Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Moeaki will compete with TE Jacob Tamme for the Falcons' starting tight end job during training camp. QB Matt Ryan praised both tight ends for their work in the past, "They (both) have these unique qualities down in the red zone, and can be featured on third down," Ryan said. "I think (they) have a little uniqueness . . .I would say Jacob and Tony more, in the third down and the route-running and finding ways to match them on a linebacker to see if they can run the options and do the stuff on third downs required to get open," said Ryan. Moeaki has overcome injury troubles and hopes to reestablish himself as the once promising tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Moeaki was expected to become a future star in KC, after he finished his rookie season with 47 receptions. Moeaki has dealt with knee and should injuries since, and he'll need to prove his durability to both the Falcons and fantasy owners.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman enters camp the starter

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 07:18:11 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman enters training camp ahead of RB Tevin Coleman on the depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman was slowed late in minicamp by a groin injury, and the team said they'll use Freeman in multiple ways - including as a receiver. Coleman could make it interesting in camp, but for now Freeman is a high-end RB3 and Coleman is a low-end RB3.

Falcons | Jake Matthews likes new offense

Sun, 21 Jun 2015 20:55:18 -0700

Atlanta Falcons OT Jake Matthews believes he is a perfect fit for offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's new scheme. "It's about athleticism and speed," Matthews said Tuesday, June 16. "We're trying to beat the defense off the ball, outwork them and outrun them, and beat them with angles, all that stuff ... cutting them off. I think it something that's well-suited for me. I feel like I have that lateral quickness and I can be a big help in this offense. So I'm excited for it."

Falcons | Roddy White won't be given days off

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 12:45:27 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (leg) will not be granted days off once training camp begins, despite his veteran status and recent leg and ankle issues, according to head coach Dan Quinn. White did miss two days of minicamp.

Fantasy Tip: White hasn't played in all 16 games for two straight years. Last season was not a complete disappointment, however, as White still managed 921 yards and 7 touchdowns in 14 games. He has more value in point-per-reception leagues as he has caught at least 80 passes in seven of his last eight seasons. Draft him as a WR2 in PPR leagues and as a low-end WR2 to high-end WR3 in standard scoring leagues.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman to be versatile

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 10:09:37 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman will be used in a lot of different ways, including as a receiver, according to head coach Dan Quinn. "I knew Devonta had terrific hands, but I probably didn't appreciate the good route-running ability coming out of Florida State and the development he made with (former running backs coach) Gerald (Brown) and the guys here last year. He can really run routes."

Fantasy Tip: Freeman appears to be ahead of Tevin Coleman in the backfield and is a high-end RB3 with upside if his pace continues.

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones said Wednesday, June 17, that he is not going to hold out for a new contract this offseason.

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 10:50:45 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Roddy White (undisclosed) is out for the second straight day Wednesday, June 17.

Fantasy Tip: White has a sleeve on his left leg, but it's unknown if he's out with an injury or rest. White battled numerous injuries and still turned in a 80-921-7 season. He's 33, poses a lot of injury risk, but he's still a rock-solid WR2 in PPR leagues.

Falcons | Matt Ryan likes new offense

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 09:42:13 -0700

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan said he likes the offense that offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has brought to the team because it is a balanced offense. "Balance on offense is huge," Ryan said. "I think with the run scheme that Kyle brings in, that's going to help us improve in the run game. Certainly, when you get the running game going, that helps the quarterback and that helps the passing game. I'm all for it."

Fantasy Tip: Ryan is coming off a solid season with 4,694 passing yards and 28 touchdowns, but those stats could drop with the new offense. Ryan still has a lot of weapons to work with at receiver and could be a No. 1 quarterback in many fantasy leagues.

Falcons | Jacob Tamme may be in lead for TE job

Wed, 17 Jun 2015 09:31:59 -0700

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme appears to be the leading candidate for the starting tight end job but is being pushed by TEs Tony Moeaki and Levine Toilolo. Head coach Dan Quinn indicated Toilolo could be used more as a blocker this season.

Fantasy Tip: Tamme has experience as a receiving tight end, so he probably will enter training camp as the starter. Tamme could be a No. 2 tight end on fantasy teams if he is able to win the job.
