Falcons | Atlanta has high hopes for Jacob Tamme

Fri, 24 Jul 2015 15:39:36 -0700

Atlanta Falcons TE Jacob Tamme could be the best tight end the Falcons have had since TE Tony Gonzalez retired, according to Vaugh McClure of ESPN.com.

Fantasy Tip: Tamme is certainly an upgrade from Levine Toilolo, at least from a receiving standpoint. Tamme will be sharing time with Tony Moeaki, but Tamme will be the Falcons' primary pass-catching tight end. He still shouldn't be seen as more than a TE2, however.

Falcons | Roddy White talks Julio Jones' contract

Sat, 18 Jul 2015 12:07:34 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones is expected to be the next big-name wide receiver to receive a multi-year extension. His fellow teammate and wide receiver, WR Roddy White, believes the Falcons should sign Jones right now. White said the longer they wait to sign Jones, the more it will cost them.

Fantasy Tip: When healthy, Jones is an elite real-life and fantasy receiver. He'll be receiving a big contract; it's just a matter of how much and for how long that contract will be. Jones should be considered a top-five fantasy receiver in 2015 and should be selected in the late-first or early-second round.

Falcons | Julio Jones, ATL to begin talks soon?

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 15:53:52 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones and the Falcons could begin discussions on a long-term deal in the near future now that Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant and Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas have agreed to long-term extensions. As reported earlier, Jones could receive a new deal before training camp begins Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Jones is right up there with the likes of Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas, so one would think that his extension would be in the same range between $14 million and $16 million a year. Jones is another receiver that should be taken late in the first round or early in the second round of fantasy drafts.

Falcons | Leonard Hankerson to have big role?

Tue, 14 Jul 2015 21:53:19 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Leonard Hankerson could be used as the No. 3 wide receiver if the team brings rookie WR Justin Hardy along slowly. Hankerson thrived in offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan's system in Washington, so Hankerson could have a chance to re-ignite his career.

Fantasy Tip: Hankerson hauled in 68 passes for 918 yards and six touchdowns in a two-year span from 2012-13 under Shanahan, and he could re-emerge as a solid WR4 or flex fantasy option if he wins the No. 3 job in camp.

Falcons | Justin Hardy could be eased in

Tue, 14 Jul 2015 21:52:47 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Justin Hardy was selected to be a long-term fixture in the offense, and he has gotten off to a good start in offseason workouts. However, with WR Leonard Hankerson in the mix, Hardy could be eased into the No. 3 role.

Fantasy Tip: Hardy could emerge as a viable fantasy option down the stretch, especially if Julio Jones or Roddy White is forced to miss time. He is basically the new Harry Douglas in the Atlanta offense.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman fighting to start

Tue, 14 Jul 2015 21:52:14 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman has started he plans on being the starter, and he will be in a position battle with RB Devonta Freeman for the starting job in training camp and beyond. Both appear to be schematic fits, and both have the potential to be effective in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman is the rookie who will have to unseat Freeman, who has a year under his belt and enters training camp as the starter. Watch the battle during camp and the preseason. He has the potential to emerge as an RB2 or flex fantasy play, especially if he can work his way into at least half of the touches in the backfield.

Falcons | Devonta Freeman in battle for job

Tue, 14 Jul 2015 21:51:43 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman has stated he plans on being the starter, but he will be battling rookie RB Tevin Coleman for the starting job in training camp and beyond. Both appear to be schematic fits, and both have the potential to be effective in the NFL.

Fantasy Tip: Freeman has the benefit of a year under his belt in the system, and enters camp as the starter. However, this is a position battle that will continue likely into the regular season. He is a solid low-end RB2 or flex fantasy option on draft day.

Falcons | Julio Jones could sign before camp

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 14:01:22 -0700

Updating a previous report, Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones could sign a contract extension before the start of training camp, according to Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com. Jones and the Falcons have not had discussions regarding the extension, however. Atlanta's training camp begins Friday, July 31.

Fantasy Tip: Again, Jones has already said he won't hold out if he's not signed to a long-term contract this season. He's in the final year of his contract and healthy, so he's good to go. He's worth a late first-round pick or early second-round pick.

Falcons | No extension talks for Julio Jones

Mon, 13 Jul 2015 13:50:25 -0700

Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones and the Falcons have not had talks regarding a contract extension, according to a source. Atlanta exercised the fifth-year option on Jones' original deal, so he will be in the final year of his contract. Jones has already said he will not hold out and the Falcons have expressed their interested in signing him to a long-term deal.

Fantasy Tip: When Jones is healthy, he's one of the top wide receivers in the NFL and in fantasy football. Jones won't be holding out, so there's nothing to worry about with Jones until next offseason. He should be taken in the first two rounds.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman a bad fit?

Sat, 04 Jul 2015 18:19:22 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman could lack the patience needed to thrive in the team's zone-based rushing attack, but he is still the favorite to start in Week 1, according to Steven Ruiz of USA TODAY Sports.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman has great speed, but he figures to be in some sort of committee with Devonta Freeman. As long as Freeman is in the mix, consider Coleman a low-end RB3.

Falcons | Tevin Coleman the frontrunner to start?

Fri, 03 Jul 2015 19:13:21 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman should end up starting Week 1 ahead of RB Devonta Freeman, according to Steven Ruiz of USA TODAY Sports, because Coleman has top-end and was picked by the coaching staff.

Fantasy Tip: There is a good chance that both Coleman and Freeman receive a decent number of touches throughout the season and curb the upside of one another. Coleman should be slightly higher on draft boards, but he is a RB3 at best for now.

Falcons | Tony Moeaki the answer at TE?

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 16:10:15 -0700

Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Moeaki will compete with TE Jacob Tamme for the Falcons' starting tight end job during training camp. QB Matt Ryan praised both tight ends for their work in the past, "They (both) have these unique qualities down in the red zone, and can be featured on third down," Ryan said. "I think (they) have a little uniqueness . . .I would say Jacob and Tony more, in the third down and the route-running and finding ways to match them on a linebacker to see if they can run the options and do the stuff on third downs required to get open," said Ryan. Moeaki has overcome injury troubles and hopes to reestablish himself as the once promising tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fantasy Tip: Moeaki was expected to become a future star in KC, after he finished his rookie season with 47 receptions. Moeaki has dealt with knee and should injuries since, and he'll need to prove his durability to both the Falcons and fantasy owners.

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 15:05:17 -0700

Falcons | Devonta Freeman enters camp the starter

Tue, 23 Jun 2015 07:18:11 -0700

Atlanta Falcons RB Devonta Freeman enters training camp ahead of RB Tevin Coleman on the depth chart.

Fantasy Tip: Coleman was slowed late in minicamp by a groin injury, and the team said they'll use Freeman in multiple ways - including as a receiver. Coleman could make it interesting in camp, but for now Freeman is a high-end RB3 and Coleman is a low-end RB3.
