Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) could easily return to the starting lineup tomorrow night. We wouldn't recommend that you start him at FantasyScore, though, as he'd be lined up to face Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez.

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland was scratched from the lineup Friday, April 17. 1B Adam Rosales will start at first base in his place and hit eighth in the batting order against Seattle Mariners SP J.A. Happ. OF Shin-Soo Choo has been moved up to fifth in the order.
Fantasy Tip: Rosales ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) already has a home run in a spot start this year and was successful against left-handers in 64 at-bats last year, with two of his four home runs coming against them. Rosales, however, remains a dice roll as a FantasyScore sleeper.

Fantasy Tip: Choo ($3,500, 7.0% of cap), like much of the Texas lineup, is off to a slow start in 2015. He's hitting just .182 (4-for-22) with one home run and three RBI. Consider Choo a weaker FantasyScore commodity tonight while being dropped in the order and while facing a southpaw. Choo hit only .236 with four of his 13 home runs against lefties in 2014 in 140 at-bats.

Fantasy Tip: Martin ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is off to a slow start this year (.143, 6-for-42) for the Rangers and is more of a weak play at FantasyScore tonight against Happ. Martin hit only .250 with two of his seven home runs against southpaws in 2014 in 136 at-bats. Odor ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) also loses a bit of fantasy luster with his move all the way to the bottom of a struggling Texas order.

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is hitting .400 to start the 2015 season but doesn't have any home runs yet. Opposing pitchers continue to throw him away, and Fielder hasn't tried to pull pitches, instead taking what the pitchers are giving him and using the big part of the field to foil the shift. He has also swung and missed on just four of 62 pitches off the plate on the outside. Fielder said this spring that he knows his swing better and his approach at the plate is more sound.
Fantasy Tip: Fielder ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) is off to a great start this year, minus the home runs. That should be forgiven by his fantasy owners in favor of good health. If his solid approach continues, Fielder could be in for a great year, especially since the power should eventually come. Don't be overly concerned that he's facing a lefty (J.A. Happ) Friday night.

Texas Rangers 2B Rougned Odor has been seeing more pitches per at-bat of late and spoiling more pitches with foul balls instead of putting them into play with soft contact. As a result, manager Jeff Banister has recently utilized Odor higher in the lineup with OF Leonys Martin struggling.
Fantasy Tip: Odor ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) doesn't project favorably as a leadoff hitter for the long term, but if he continues to bat near the top of the lineup, it is a huge value boost. Odor batted second Wednesday, April 15, which is a favorable spot for a player with his cap-friendly price. Odor should be viewed as an upside source of cap relief in favorable matchups.

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields Jr. and 1B Adam Rosales are both in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Wednesday, April 15. DeShields is starting in left field and hitting leadoff, while Rosales is playing first base and hitting seventh in the batting order.
Fantasy Tip: DeShields ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) and Rosales ($1,600) are both weak plays at FantasyScore Wednesday, but DeShields garners slightly more promise while hitting leadoff. A depleted Texas lineup today that's resting Shin-Soo Choo makes Santiago ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) slightly tempting as a cheap starter.

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo is not in the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Wednesday, April 15. OF Jake Smolinski is starting in right field and hitting fifth in the batting order.
Fantasy Tip: Smolinski ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has fared very well against southpaws in his young career, hitting .400 against them with two of his three home runs in 25 at-bats. He's a leap of faith at FantasyScore today, but it could pay off against Santiago.

Fantasy Tip: Ranaudo saw some action in Boston last season, and could be a guy who stays in the rotation if he can turn in a decent outing. He is not worth using in FantasyScore just yet, but monitor his start and consider him in AL-only weekly leagues if he sticks around. This could also just be a one-time spot start, too.

Texas Rangers OF Leonys Martin was dropped from leadoff to eighth in the batting order Tuesday, April 14, but manager Jeff Bannister still views Martin as the team's leadoff hitter. Martin has just two hits in his first 26 at-bats of the year, and Bannister thought he needed a break. 2B Rougned Odor is serving as the leadoff hitter Tuesday.
Fantasy Tip: Because of Martin's ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) slow start to the season, you may want to avoid him at FantasyScore tonight against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. A drop to the bottom of the batting order also makes him less attractive for fantasy owners tonight.
Tue, 14 Apr 2015 14:26:23 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Martin ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) is off to a slow start this year (.139 average in 36 at-bats) in the leadoff spot, but the Rangers will continue with him in the top spot. It's better for his long-term fantasy value, too. Martin is a sleeper pick Tuesday facing Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim starter Drew Rucinski Tuesday night.
Mon, 13 Apr 2015 14:32:18 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Rua ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) won't be relevant at FantasyScore for at least the next month and probably more. Carlos Peguero is starting in left Monday night, and Jake Smolinski ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should see the most playing time in Rua's absence in the outfield. Both will be sleeper plays for daily lineups.
Mon, 13 Apr 2015 14:31:13 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Peguero has interesting power but has never been able to stay consistent at the major league level. He won't be available at FantasyScore for Monday night's game.
Mon, 13 Apr 2015 14:21:51 -0700
Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (back) is returning to the starting lineup against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Matt Shoemaker Monday, April 13. Choo is starting in right field and hitting second in the batting order.
Fantasy Tip: Choo ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is back in the lineup after suffering from back spasms in the game Friday night. You may want to avoid him for his first game back at FantasyScore. For what it's worth, Choo has a home run in six career at-bats against Shoemaker, but he also has three strikeouts.
Sun, 12 Apr 2015 08:38:32 -0700
Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (back) won't play Sunday, April 12, against the Houston Astros. Choo is continuing to receive treatment for back spasms, but isn't expected to require a stint on the disabled list.
Fantasy Tip: Choo ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is worth hanging on to in season-long leagues, but FantasyScore owners will need to stay away for the time being. RF Jake Smolinski ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) continues to fill in as the starting right fielder, but isn't a realistic FantasyScore option.
