Updating a previous report, Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (knee) might be limited to pinch-hitting duties for the rest of the season, according to general manager Jon Daniels. Hamilton is eligible to come off the disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 1. Hamilton still has pain in his left knee when running, and he hasn't ruled out offseason surgery to fix or remove some cartilage.
Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is unlikely to be very useful in any fantasy format with a limited number of at-bats down the stretch. Dropping him is acceptable, and don't look to use him on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Stubbs is a shell of his former self, but if he is able to draw a start or two down the stretch he could be a low-end source of power in FantasyScore. The pitchers can mostly be ignored for fantasy purposes.

The Texas Rangers will recall 3B Joey Gallo from Class AAA Round Rock Tuesday, Sept. 1, when rosters expand. He hit .218 with five homers, 13 RBIs and a .448 slugging percentage in 25 games with the big club earlier in the season.
Fantasy Tip: Gallo has plenty of power potential, but he also strikes out quite a bit, too. If he develops a keener eye at the plate he could develop into one of the most dangerous offensive players in the American League over time.

The Texas Rangers will activate C Carlos Corporan (thumb) from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 1. He hasn't played since July 13 due to a bruised left thumb. He will likely be used as a third catcher behind Cs Chris Gimenez and Bobby Wilson.
Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is only worth a look in FantasyScore when he is in the starting lineup, as he does have a little power potential for such a low price tag.

The Texas Rangers are planning to activate OF Josh Hamilton (knee) from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, Sept. 1. Hamilton has not played since Aug. 15 due to a sore left knee. He is not expected to be ready for left field duty, but might be used as a pinch hitter.
Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players likely want to hold off using Hamilton ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) until he can officially return in a starting capacity and make it through a full game or two to prove his health.

Fantasy Tip: Without the option to utilize a designated hitter, Moreland ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) draws out Monday. He could see a start in the series, but don't count on it. Seasonal owners should make adjustments to account for his likely lineup absences.

Fantasy Tip: Odor ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has missed the past five games with a broken finger nail, so there shouldn't be significant concern about the injury lingering and impacting his production going forward. It isn't an A+ matchup by any means, but Odor is hitting in a prime spot in the lineup. He is worth considering for your FantasyScore lineups Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) recently moved his minor league rehab assignment from Class AA Frisco to Class AAA Round Rock. He could be useful for owners in AL-only or two-catcher fantasy leagues once he returns to action.

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (knee) remains likely to be activated from the disabled list when rosters are expanded Tuesday, Sept. 1, even though he is expected to be limited to pinch-hitting duties. He has been taking batting practice and playing catch without experiencing any problems but he has not been cleared to resume running.
Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has noticed some improvement in his left knee recently but he won't be of much help to fantasy owners if he's not getting regular playing time. Avoid using him in FantasyScore for the foreseeable future.

Texas Rangers C Robinson Chirinos (shoulder) caught a nine-inning simulated game with a pitching machine Friday, Aug. 28. Manager Jeff Banister said he is unlikely to be activated from the disabled list when rosters are expanded Tuesday, Sept. 1.
Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) experienced normal fatigue in his legs and hips following the simulated game. Banister said he would prefer not to use him until he's ready to resume his role as the Rangers' primary catcher. AL-only fantasy owners and owners in two-catcher leagues should continue to monitor his progress.

Fantasy Tip: Gimenez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is batting .300 (12-for-40) with four home runs and nine RBIs during the month of August and makes an excellent value play in FantasyScore this afternoon.

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton (knee) said he still feels pain in his left knee preventing him from running. He is not sure if he will be able to return from the disabled list when eligible Monday, Aug. 31, and added his injury is a "day-to-day thing."
Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has missed significant time this season with a number of injuries and personal injuries. When on the field, he has flashed upside, but it is ill-advised to bank on fantasy returns from the veteran. After all, Hamilton has been limited to 38 games this season, and even when he deems himself ready to return, it would be shocking to see him receive everyday at-bats.

Texas Rangers 2B Rougned Odor (finger) is not in the starting lineup against Baltimore Orioles SP Ubaldo Jimenez Saturday, Aug. 29. 2B Hanser Alberto will start at second base and is batting ninth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Owners should continue to monitor the situation to see when Odor ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) will be able to return to the lineup. Alberto ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is hitting only .236 in limited playing time this season and should not be a fantasy option.
Fri, 28 Aug 2015 20:05:51 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Gimenez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has two home runs and three runs scored in his last three starts, and for the price, he is worth a look as a source of cap relief at FantasyScore the next time he earns a start.
