Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo (11-9) recorded his 100th career victory against the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday, Aug. 27. He allowed three hits over 5 1/3 scoreless innings, with three walks and two strikeouts.
Fantasy Tip: In five starts during the month of August, Gallardo ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) went 4-0 with a 1.98 ERA. He hopes to continue this dominance in his next start against the San Diego Padres Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Fantasy Tip: Don't count on any fantasy production from Profar in 2015, but there is an outside chance he receives a cup of coffee in late September. Still, it is likely a long shot, and there is no reason to stash Profar in the majority of seasonal leagues. He remains a stash candidate in keeper/dynasty formats, though.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) has driven in 12 runs over his past 11 games, and he is hitting .297 (27-for-91) in the month of August, his highest average in any month this season.

Texas Rangers 2B Rougned Odor (finger) is hopeful of returning to the lineup Thursday, Aug. 27. He said doctors saved the nail on his right middle finger after a grounder almost tore it off in the game Tuesday, Aug. 25. He was still wearing a split Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Fantasy Tip: With Odor ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) sidelined it was Hanser Alberto ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) making the start at second base. The latter is a solid FantasyScore play at a cut-rate price. He can save you plenty of salary to spread across other positions.

Fantasy Tip: A win likely won't come as easily for Lewis ($6,500, 13.0% of cap) Wednesday. Toronto is the highest-scoring team in the league and have averaged 9.0 runs per game over their last six outings. FantasyScore players should view Lewis as a risky option Wednesday, and it isn't out of the question to bench him in seasonal leagues.

Texas Rangers 2B Rougned Odor (finger) is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, Aug. 26. 2B Hanser Alberto is starting at second base and batting ninth against Toronto Blue Jays SP David Price Wednesday.
Fantasy Tip: Against Price ($9,600, 19.2% of cap), Hanser ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for FantaysScore players. You should likely aim higher, too. Odor's ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) X-rays were negative, so he doesn't project to miss much time. You'll want to be careful counting on him immediately upon returning, though. Hand injuries sometimes don't jive with hitting.

Fantasy Tip: Napoli ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is 7-for-22 with two home runs since joining the Rangers, but the matchup against Price ($9,600, 19.2% of cap) makes Napoli an incredibly risky play at FantasyScore. Moreland ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) and Napoli project to split duty going forward at first base and serving as the designated hitter. Prince Fielder ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) is also in the mix, but he'll receive the most playing time of the three.

Fantasy Tip: Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) should be useful down the stretch in AL-only and two-catcher leagues, since he'll likely play frequently when he returns to Texas. Check to see if he was cut by his previous owner.

Fantasy Tip: Mazara could be promoted when rosters expand in September and he has the power to contribute to fantasy teams. The Rangers outfield is crowded, but if Mazara continues to hit he could get the playing time needed to be viable. Mazara is a must-own in Dynasty and deep keeper leagues and should be claimed now if he's available.

Texas Rangers SP Yu Darvish (elbow) has been throwing for a week since having Tommy John Surgery in spring training. Things are progressing positively without any setbacks and "no pain whatsoever" says Darvish.
Fantasy Tip: Darvish could be ready for opening day, but we expect him to start the season on the disabled list to manage his innings. He should fall in drafts, as all pitchers returning from Tommy John surgery do, but he could be a draft-day value as long as you realize that he will be handled cautiously and will be working with an innings limit.

Fantasy Tip: The exact source and severity of Odor's ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is uncertain. Avoid him in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any lingering effects of the injury.

Texas Rangers 1B Mike Napoli is resting against a left-handed pitcher Tuesday, Aug. 25. Napoli is 7-for-27 (.259) in his career against Tuesday's starter, Toronto Blue Jays SP Mark Buehrle, including 0-for-3 with a strikeout this year. Napoli will be back in the lineup against Blue Jays SP David Price Wednesday, Aug. 26, according to manager Jeff Bannister.
Fantasy Tip: Napoli ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has hit lefties pretty well in his career, but this season has been a struggle all around for him. Plus, Mitch Moreland has been adequate against lefties and is one of the team's more consistent hitters. Napoli continues to be a tough sell on FantasyScore no matter who he's facing.

Fantasy Tip: Darvish is a stash candidate in all keeper and dynasty leagues. You'll want to monitor his progress during the offseason to gauge his return timeline, and in turn, determine his fantasy value for the 2016 season. Continue to check back for updates.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has been decent in August with a .303 average, but he has a .105 mark in the last week. Hopefully this is a sign he is shaking the rust off, but keep him away from your lineup for another game until he proves it.
Sun, 23 Aug 2015 14:33:48 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It was a matter of time before Hamels ($8,400, 16.8% of cap) got on the right track in the American League, and he should be kept in mind for future FantasyScore performances. He appears to have gotten over the initial yips of switching leagues and facing all-new hitting.
