Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits over seven innings in Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, Oct. 9, with no walks and six strikeouts.
Fantasy Tip: Although Hamels ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) ended up with a no-decision, the Rangers improved to 11-0 in his last 11 outings. If he makes another start in this series, he will be a somewhat risky FantasyScore play because of Toronto's high-powered offense.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the Rangers participating in a 14-inning contest against the Jays Friday, Oct. 9, Beltre ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) did not see action in Game 2. FantasyScore owners should probably avoid using him regardless of his status for Game 3, especially given his hefty price tag.

Texas Rangers OF Josh Hamilton went 0-for-6 with two strikeouts against the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 2 of the American League Division Series Friday, Oct. 9. He is hitless in his last 30 postseason at-bats.
Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) is hitless in 10 at-bats in this series and should not be used in FantasyScore for the time being.

Updating previous reports, Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (back) has drastically improved from his back strain, but that means he's able to walk right now, according to manager Jeff Banister. Beltre had a cortisone injection after he left the game Thursday, Oct. 8, and a numbing agent injection. However, the numbing agent wasn't placed in the right spot. He had an MRI that identified where the strain is, and the team hopes he'll feel better in 24 hours once the cortisone injection settles.
Fantasy Tip: Beltre ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is questionable for Game 3 against Marco Estrada. He's a risky play on FantasyScore the rest of the series because the issue can flare up at any time.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) hit .231 with a solo homer in Rogers Centre this year and is a midrange 1B option on FantasyScore against Marcus Stroman.

Fantasy Tip: Alberto ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) isn't a good option against Marcus Stroman on FantasyScore.

Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo allowed two runs on four hits over five innings in a victory over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 1 of the American League Division Series Thursday, Oct. 8, with one walk and one strikeout.
Fantasy Tip: With the win, Gallardo ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) improved to 4-0 with a 1.78 ERA in four career starts against the Blue Jays. He could get another start against Toronto in the playoffs, assuming this series goes longer than three games. That being said, selecting any pitcher in FantasyScore facing the best offense in the majors carries some risk.

Texas Rangers SP Cole Hamels is 7-1 with a 3.66 ERA over 12 starts since being acquired in a trade with the Philadelphia Phillies in late July. The team has won each of the past 10 games he has started.
Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($7,900, 15.8% of cap) will be on the mound for Game 2 of the American League Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, Oct. 9, and will be making his first postseason appearance since 2011. Despite his recent success, he is a somewhat risky play in FantasyScore because of the Jays' high-powered offense, which scored the most runs in Major League Baseball during the 2015 regular season.

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre's (back) MRI exam showed a back strain but no structural damage, according to a source. Beltre received a cortisone shot before he left early in Game 1 of the division series against the Toronto Blue Jays Thursday, Oct. 8.
Fantasy Tip: Beltre ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is considered day-to-day. It'll likely come down to pain tolerance for Beltre, but at his age, it'll probably be tough for him to make it back into the lineup for Game 2. If he does play, Beltre will be a pretty risky daily option at his hefty price.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre's ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) MRI results will determine whether he'll be able to return in Game 2 tomorrow. Stay tuned. If he's in there, there's no reason you shouldn't consider him as a strong option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Keep tabs on the injury and check back for updates because if Beltre ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) is replaced on the ALDS roster with an injury, he becomes ineligible for the next round of the playoffs. Hanser Alberto ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) entered the game in his place. Joey Gallo ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) could be a candidate to join the 25-man roster, if Beltre is seriously injured. Stay tuned.

Texas Rangers SP Yovani Gallardo didn't allow a run over 13 2/3 innings in two starts against the Toronto Blue Jays this year. Gallardo faces the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the American League Division Series Thursday, Oct. 8.
Fantasy Tip: Gallardo ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) has been decent to close out the year but allows more baserunners than you'd like to see, and against this heavy-hitting Toronto team, that could lead to bunches of runs quickly. He's the cheapest FantasyScore pitcher out of four for today's games.
Thu, 08 Oct 2015 09:41:33 -0700
Fantasy Tip: The Blue Jays had the highest OPS (.818) against left-handers this season, making Perez ($6,100, 12.2% of cap) an extremely risky FantasyScore pick in the divisional round.

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland is not in the lineup against Toronto Blue Jays left-handed SP David Price for Game 1 of the division series Thursday, Oct. 8. 1B Mike Napoli is starting at first base and is batting fifth.
Fantasy Tip: Napoli ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) did have 18 home runs on the season, and he does have two career home runs in 38 at-bats against Price. However, he also hit just .224 (91-for-407) on the year and struck out 118 times. Twelve of Napoli's 18 dingers this year were against lefties, but Price isn't your run-of-the-mill southpaw. Napoli is a gamble on FantasyScore today.

Fantasy Tip: The Rangers face the highest-scoring team in baseball to open the playoffs, so using their starting pitchers on FantasyScore comes with a good amount of risk, and both venues in this series are heavily tilted toward the hitters.
