Fantasy Tip: Blanks ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) lost his everyday role as a starter at first base once Mitch Moreland came off the DL recently, so he had become an afterthought at FantasyScore. Smolinski is likely to be a bench option with Delino DeShields Jr. moving into a starting role in the outfield and with Josh Hamilton's (shoulder) debut on the horizon next week.

Fantasy Tip: DeShields ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is 6-for-22 with two stolen bases over the past week, so the Rangers may want some speed atop the lineup. Choo ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) has a .267 average (8-for-30) and one home run in that same period.

Texas Rangers RP Shawn Tolleson recorded his second consecutive save Thursday, May 21, against the Boston Red Sox. Tolleson worked a scoreless ninth-inning for the second day in a row, after picking up the first save of his career Wednesday night.
Fantasy Tip: Tolleson has been favored over Neftali Feliz in back-to-back games and is strengthening his hold on the Rangers' closer job. Tolleson is worth adding in mixed leagues of 12 teams or more.

Texas Rangers SP Wandy Rodriguez picked up his second win of the season Thursday, May 21, against the Boston Red Sox. Rodriguez held the Red Sox to four hits, two walks and one run, while striking out five over six and two-third innings.
Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) allowed just a single run for the fourth time in six starts this season. With a 7.71 strikeout ratio, Rodriguez can be a sneaky GPP play on FantasyScore, but he comes with risk of an implosion.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) hit his third home run of the season, and two singles. Moreland is a career .260-hitter against right-handed pitchers, and he bumped up that average a touch against Red Sox righty Clay Buchholz.

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields Jr. is starting for the 10th straight game Thursday, May 21, and for the 14th time in the last 16 games. "He's earned that," manager Jeff Banister said. "He's made the most of the opportunity he has been given." DeShields is starting for the fourth time in the two-hole Thursday, too. He is hitting .271 with a .386 on-base percentage and leads the team with 11 steals in 12 tries.
Fantasy Tip: DeShields ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) should be owned in most leagues for his stolen base potential at this point. Hitting at the top of the order should also increase his intrigue as a value pick at FantasyScore. He could become a platoon player in either left or center when Josh Hamilton (shoulder) returns next week, though.

Fantasy Tip: Chirinos ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) appears to be getting a normal night off. As for Corporan ($1,800, 3.6% of cap), he has two hits in his last eight at-bats so he might be a good source of low-cost catching.

Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) cannot gain any traction at the plate, as he is hitting just .227 this season and .224 through 18 May games. FantasyScore players should likely aim for more upside in Andrus' price range. It isn't out of the question for seasonal owners to check replacement options on the waiver wire, either.

Fantasy Tip: DeShields ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is playing well and earning more playing time with his legs. He has stretched out three extra-base hits and stole three bases during his 9-for-26 stretch over the past eight games. He is an upside low-priced flier for FantasyScore players.
Wed, 20 May 2015 14:06:58 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) could return to the Rangers as soon as Monday, May 25. At this point, he should be owned in all fantasy formats, as there is plenty of upside. Just don't expect Hamilton to turn any teams -- real or fake -- around on his own. His FantasyScore price screams profit potential, too.

Texas Rangers 3B Joey Gallo hit two home runs and a season-high six RBI for Class AA Frisco (Texas) Tuesday, May 19, and he now has five home runs on the season. He is hitting .343 with five home runs and 14 RBI in his last 10 games after missing two weeks of the season after ankle surgery April 3.
Fantasy Tip: Gallo is one of the team's top prospects in the minors, and he has a great home run stroke that should eventually translate to the majors. However, his path to the bigs is currently blocked by Adrian Beltre at third. Gallo may not come up until September when rosters expand, making him a stash candidate in strictly AL-only leagues for now. Keep an eye on his progress, though, and he could come up sooner if an injury clears a path.

Fantasy Tip: Hamilton ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) will be rather conservatively priced to start the season, and he could be an instant bargain. Back in the comfortable confines of Arlington, Hamilton is a free add with nothing but upside for season-long owners.

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields Jr. is once again starting in center field over OF Leonys Martin Tuesday, May 19, but manager Jeff Banister said that there is no platoon in center field between the two outfielders. Martin has just two hits and two walks in 28 at-bats since May 2, and his average has fallen to .198. DeShields has more walks (10) in 63 plate appearances than Martin does in double the playing time. Banister said Martin isn't bothered by his wrist injury anymore.
Fantasy Tip: Martin ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) should be avoided at FantasyScore for the foreseeable future, especially if he continues to lose playing time to DeShields ($2,000, 4.0% of cap). DeShields can be an excellent value play for daily gamers, mainly for his speed contributions.

Texas Rangers OF Leonys Martin is not in the lineup Tuesday, May 19, against the Boston Red Sox. Kyle Blanks is in left field and batting fifth, and Delino DeShields Jr. is batting ninth and in center.
Fantasy Tip: Martin ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) is out of the lineup because the Rangers are facing left-handed hurler Wade Miley. Manager Jeff Banister said DeShields is not platooning with Martin for the time being. DeShields ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) may make a decent alternative for Tuesday's game, and Kyle Blanks ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) is making just his second left-field start at Fenway. Blanks should be left alone.
Tue, 19 May 2015 13:52:02 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Andrus ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is hitting .304 in his last seven games, so this may explain why the Rangers are moving him up in the lineup from the sixth spot. With more scoring opportunities here, Andrus is a better option to use in daily leagues.
