Fantasy Tip: Wacha is 2-2 with a 2.65 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP. The WHIP is a little high as he has been hit a little bit more, but Wacha is a solid option in DFS after the elite tiers.

Fantasy Tip: Adams has been seeing pretty regular at-bats at first base of late, hitting .400 (6-for-15) with two long balls and four RBI. Mike Matheny may just be riding the hot hand, but whatever the case, Adams is a fine pick in daily formats tonight while hitting cleanup. If Adams is available in your mixed league and you're hunting for power, give him a look.

Fantasy Tip: Pham likely won't see enough playing time to be a factor outside of NL-only leagues.

St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while fanning four in six innings to beat the Philadelphia Phillies Monday, May 2. "Everything was good," Wainwright said. " I've got to get the curveball not be so loopy. I expect it to be right and it will be eventually. I was very confident coming into the game. From the first pitch I threw in Arizona, I knew I was on the right track. I'm very close. I really am."
Fantasy Tip: Wainwright allowed fewer hits than innings pitched for the first time this season and reduced his ERA to 6.68. His nine K's in 11 1/3 innings in his last two starts is encouraging as well. Buy low on him now.

Fantasy Tip: Grichuk struggled in the very beginning of the year as well before snapping out of it, so there is hope he can emerge from this latest rut. If he doesn't do it soon, though, he could lose out on playing time in the long term, as guys like Jeremy Hazelbaker and Brandon Moss continue to hit their way into more starts.

St. Louis Cardinals SP Adam Wainwright has worked between starts on his mechanics that he admitted have been out of whack because of bad habits or the loss of muscle memory from missing most of last season with an Achilles' injury.
Fantasy Tip: Carpenter is the perfect person to counsel Wainwright, because the two pitchers are so similar. The problem begins and ends with Waino's mechanics. He has lost some zip on his fastball, but he was pitching great last season at about the same velocity before the injury. It may take a couple of starts, but we expect him to get back on track. Wainwright is an excellent buy-low proposition in fantasy.

Fantasy Tip: Grichuk has a high ceiling, but he's struggling this first month with a .189-3-12 line. If you can afford to, sit him until he shows signs of life.

Fantasy Tip: Molina isn't doing damage, but he's hitting .341 on the season. He only hit four homers last season and didn't hit his first one until June. You probably can't expect much more than that from him this season, but he remains a midrange catcher option.

St. Louis Cardinals SS Jhonny Peralta (thumb) is scheduled to be re-evaluated in 10 days and could begin a rehab assignment around May 21, according to general manager John Mozeliak. He would likely need at least one week of rehab games and could rejoin the parent club in early June if all goes well.
Fantasy Tip: Peralta is able to participate in defensive drills but has not yet been cleared to resume hitting. He should remain stashed in NL-only and cavernous mixed fantasy leagues. Peralta's return is not expected to affect the status of 25-year-old rookie SS Aledmys Diaz, who is leading all National League hitters with a .420 average through his first 21 games this season.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Tommy Pham (oblique) could begin a rehab assignment during the middle of next week, according to general manager John Mozeliak. He has been hitting in a cage and could resume shagging fly balls by the beginning of next week.
Fantasy Tip: Pham may have difficulty securing regular playing time in the Cardinals' crowded outfield once he is activated, which limits his fantasy appeal to NL-only and deep mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Wong has not been in the starting lineup over the last six games because of an illness but was used later in games. He is batting only .216 with two RBI this season and may not be the best option for some fantasy owners.

St. Louis Cardinals SS Aledmys Diaz is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Saturday, April 30. SS Ruben Tejada will start at shortstop and is batting seventh in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Tejada has only one hit in his last eight at-bats and is batting only .167 this season. Owners should be able to find better options to use in their lineups.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Stephen Piscotty is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Saturday, April 30. 1B Brandon Moss will start in right field, while 1B Matt Adams will start at first base and is batting fourth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Moss has five hits and three RBI over his last four games and could be a sleeper option for owners in daily fantasy leagues. Adams is coming off a 2-for-3 performance with one home run and three RBI in his last game and could be used in daily leagues.

St. Louis Cardinals OF Randal Grichuk is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Joe Ross Saturday, April 30. OF Jeremy Hazelbaker will start in center field and is batting first in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Hazelbaker has gone 6-for-16 with two home runs and six RBI over the last seven games and should be an attractive option for owners in daily fantasy leagues.

St. Louis Cardinals 2B Kolten Wong (illness) remains out of the starting lineup Friday, April 29. 2B Jedd Gyorko is starting at second base and batting sixth against Washington Nationals SP Stephen Strasburg.
Fantasy Tip: Wong has to be one of the biggest fantasy disappointments in the early going. He has just 11 hits in 51 at-bats (.216) and hasn't started in almost a full week. If you haven't already, you need to make alternate plans at second base, and it's not out of the question to dump him in shallow leagues. Gyorko has pop but fares much better against lefties. He does have a homer in nine career at-bats against Stras, but he's more of a sleeper pick tonight in daily contests.
