Fantasy Tip: It looks like Paxton is making progress in his rehab and should be able to pitch at some point this spring. He is expected to part of the starting rotation this season and could be an option in the later rounds of mixed league drafts.

Fantasy Tip: Paxton went 6-4 with a 3.04 ERA in 13 starts for the M's in 2014. His freak injury early in spring isn't believed to be serious, so we expect him to be a part of Seattle's rotation to start the season. Consider the 26-year-old a fringe player in deep mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Hernandez isn't dealing with any kind of a known injury, so this is likely just a precaution to keep him fresh for the regular season. The Mariners, and fantasy owners, certainly know what King Felix is capable of doing without seeing him undergo unnecessary strain.

Seattle Mariners SS Willie Bloomquist (knee) ran the bases for the first time Monday, Feb. 23, and Tuesday, Feb. 24, as he makes his way back from microfracture surgery. Manager Lloyd McClendon said Bloomquist is "doing fabulous" and is well ahead of schedule.
Fantasy Tip: Bloomquist won't wow fantasy owners, but he can be useful to some especially for his positional versatility from an eligibility standpoint.

Seattle Mariners RP Fernando Rodney is feeling good, and he is throwing much earlier in camp than he did last year. Last season he started camp with a tight shoulder, but he is good to go this year. "This year I just took the first two days to get loose and said I was ready for Tuesday," Rodney said. "It was a good (bullpen session) for me. This year everything is normal."
Fantasy Tip: Rodney is 37, but he remains a useful fantasy option for saves on a team extended to win many games.

Fantasy Tip: The drop in weight could be another reason to hesitate on selecting Cano as your starting second baseman early in drafts. However, even with a shaky power profile to begin with in Seattle, he remains the No. 1 fantasy second baseman on the board.

Seattle Mariners SP James Paxton (wrists) will resume throwing early next week, and he will take part in fielding drills Tuesday, Feb. 24. Manager Lloyd McClendon said Paxton threw five or six bullpen sessions before reporting to camp, so he should be fine.
Fantasy Tip: Everything should be good to go for Paxton after suffering a freak injury early in camp. If he doesn't have any setbacks next week, expect him to be ready for opening day. Paxton is a player worth considering in the late rounds of deep mixed leagues.

Seattle Mariners SP Hisashi Iwakuma is healthy this year in spring training and is excited about what he can accomplish in 2015. He threw 45 pitches during a bullpen session Monday, Feb. 23, that saw him mix in fastballs and breaking pitches. Last year at this time he had a splint on his finger and was simulating throwing as a spectator for roughly six weeks. Iwakuma never got into his comfort zone last year after starting on the disabled list, even though he finished 15-9 with a 3.52 ERA.
Fantasy Tip: If Iwakuma's 2014 season was considered a down year, we should all be excited for what's in store this year as he enters fully healthy. He finds himself ranked just behind the high-upside strikeout pitchers, but he'll be valuable to your staff as a No. 2 or 3 starter.

Seattle Mariners SP James Paxton (wrists) is being held out of workouts the last couple days with wrist strains that he suffered last week during agility drills, according to general manager Jack Zduriencik.
Fantasy Tip: Paxton's injury isn't believed to be serious, and we expect him to be ready for the start of the season, barring setbacks. Paxton is an up-and-coming young arm that will receive a rotation shot for the Mariners. He could be a nice value late in very deep mixed leagues.

Seattle Mariners SP Danny Hultzen (shoulder) appears to be recovered from a torn rotator cuff and labrum, but manager Lloyd McClendon said the team is looking towards 2016 with him at the major league level.
Fantasy Tip: Hultzen could force the team's hand with a strong camp, but he's probably not worth a late flyer in AL-only leagues unless he does so.

Fantasy Tip: Bloomquist's biggest value is his ability to play pretty much anywhere on the field except pitcher. He hit .278 in 47 games but has little pop and won't have much fantasy value even with a full-time job.

Updating previous reports, Seattle Mariners minor league P Victor Sanchez (head) has been transferred to a hospital in Caracas, Venezuela. He remains in an induced coma after being struck in the head by the propeller of a boat while swimming Feb. 13.

Fantasy Tip: Seattle considered turning Wilhelmsen into a starter last season but it appears he will remain in the bullpen for the time being. As it stands right now, he only possesses value in deep AL-only leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Saunders made eight starts for the Texas Rangers and six relief appearances for the Baltimore Orioles in 2014, struggling in both roles. It's uncertain whether the Mariners plan to use him as a starter or reliever but he has minimal fantasy value at this point in his career.

Fantasy Tip: Still just 25, Montero was a former top prospect, and while he is a long way from being a fantasy option, there is potential. A strong spring could lead to enough at-bats to warrant attention in AL-only and deep mixed leagues. For now, Montero is nothing more than a player to keep tabs on.
