Seattle Mariners OF Seth Smith ranked second amongst American League players through Sunday, May 1, with a .440 on-base percentage. He sits only behind Minnesota Twins 1B Joe Mauer, who leads the league with a .459 clip.
Fantasy Tip: Smith had a very uneventful first season with the Mariners in 2015, but the nine-year veteran could have something to offer fantasy owners in all leagues if he keeps it up. Of course, it's reasonable to be skeptical if he can keep it up, but Smith has had some success before, and at the very least, has shown enough to indicate he can stick on rosters in deep leagues.

Seattle Mariners RP Joaquin Benoit (shoulder) played catch on Sunday, May 1, and felt "really good," according to manager Scott Servais. He's eligible to return from the disabled list Friday, May 6, but likely won't be ready before the middle of the month. He's one of the best in the business in that regard.
Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Benoit is probably going to return to the team in a couple of weeks. When he's ready, the 38-year-old should resume his regular duties as Seattle's main setup man.

Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker had his shortest outing of the season, allowing two earned runs on seven hits and striking out four over five innings in a loss to the Kansas City Royals Sunday, May 1.
Fantasy Tip: Despite the lackluster outing, Walker still owns a 1.80 ERA. He is finally living up to his potential and has too much upside to be sitting on the waiver wire.

Seattle Mariners OF Norichika Aoki is not in the lineup on Sunday, May 01, against Kansas City Royals SP Ian Kennedy. SS Ketel Marte will replace Aoki atop the order, while OF Seth Smith will take his spot in left field. 2B Robinson Cano will fill the designated hitter role for the first time this season, while 2B Luis Sardinas will get a rare start at second base.
Fantasy Tip: Cano has started out slowly for the second straight season in terms of batting average (.226), but his power (eight homers, 24 RBI) is carrying fantasy owners at the moment. Conversely, Aoki has struggled mightily in his first season with Seattle and can be ignored in most formats until he is able to get his batting average more than 10 or so points above the Mendoza line.

Fantasy Tip: Smith entered this series with two homers, and he has equaled that production over the past two days. He wrapped up the month of April hitting .298 with four homers and 10 RBIs. He is a solid AL-only fantasy play, but still doesn't play enough to warrant usage in anything but the deepest of mixed formats.

Seattle Mariners SP Taijuan Walker is scheduled to start Saturday, April 30, against the Kansas City Royals. He has allowed two or fewer runs while pitching at least six innings in each of his past four outings.
Fantasy Tip: Walker has been everything as advertised, and fantasy owners love him for his strikeout potential. Use him in DFS Sunday in a favorable matchup, too, as the KC bats have been dormant in the series.

Fantasy Tip: Seager has three homers and seven RBIs over his past six games, wrapping up the month of April on a positive note. Still, he is hitting just .159 overall, but showing signs of life. Fantasy owners should stick with him for his power potential.

Fantasy Tip: Miley was a bit uneven over his first three starts, going 0-2 with an 8.04 ERA. However, he has shaved off nearly three runs from his ERA in the past two outings, allowing just 11 hits and two walks over 16 1/3 innings. He has re-emerged as a quality fantasy option in most AL-only formats.

Fantasy Tip: Benoit has been working in the eighth inning as a setup man for closer Steve Cishek. When healthy he is helpful in rotisserie fantasy formats for help in ERA and WHIP, and he is a solid option in formats which reward holds.

Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain what Furbush's role will be once he is able to return from the 15-day disabled list. Wait to see what role he'll fulfill before deciding on him for fantasy.

Seattle Mariners SP Felix Hernandez scattered five hits and three walks over 7 2/3 scoreless innings in a win Friday, April 29, against the Kansas City Royals to even up his record at 2-2 while lowering his ERA to 1.38. He matched former SP Jamie Moyer for most victories with the Mariners at 145.
Fantasy Tip: King Felix has turned in four quality starts in five outings. He has had a little difficulty with control, walking two or more batters in each outing with 15 walks total over 25 innings. Despite the increase in walks he remains a must-start across all fantasy formats.

Seattle Mariners SS Ketel Marte is on a 13-for-30 tear in the last seven games, and he's raised his average more than 100 points to .288 in that span. "I think we've seen, as a few hits have dropped in," manager Scott Servais said, "(Marte's) confidence has grown. He looks much more sure of himself. Not just in the batter's box but defensively as well. Which is pretty normal for all young players."
Fantasy Tip: Marte impressed in his first taste of big league action last year, and the 22-year-old is on the rise after a dismal start. He won't provide you any power numbers, but his contact-oriented approach and speed on the basepaths are valuable. If his owner panicked early and dropped him, snag him now.

Fantasy Tip: Lind's average is now up to .259, but he only has one home run and three RBI after clubbing 20 home runs with the Brewers in 2015. Lind's move to Seattle hurt his fantasy value a bit moving to the pitching-friendly park, but he's still capable of reaching the 20-homer mark. He could lose playing time against left-handers, which makes him a power source more for deep mixed leagues.

Seattle Mariners C Chris Iannetta is not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Wednesday, April 27. C Steve Clevenger will start at catcher and is batting eighth in the lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Clevenger is hitting only .188 so far this season but has gone 2-for-6 in the last seven days. Clevenger is not a strong starting candidate and should be avoided by owners.

Seattle Mariners OF Nori Aoki is not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Collin McHugh Wednesday, April 27. OF Seth Smith will start in left field in place of Aoki. SS Ketel Marte will be batting first in the starting lineup with Aoki out. 1B Dae-ho Lee will start at first base and is batting seventh, while 1B Adam Lind will serve as the designated hitter.
Fantasy Tip: Marte likely will not lead off often but should receive an extra at-bat or two Wednesday. He has gone 10-for-25 with two RBI over the last seven days and could be an attractive option in some daily fantasy leagues. Lee has received limited playing time this season but six of his hits have been home runs. Lee could be a starting candidate for some owners, but most owners should be able to find better players to use.
