Giants | Mike Leake acquired

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 22:08:09 -0700

The San Francisco Giants have acquired SP Mike Leake from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for 1B Adam Duvall and SP Keury Mella Thursday, July 30.

Fantasy Tip: Leake ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has been excellent in July, and he should be able to maintain the momentum and remain a solid value play at FantasyScore for at least a little while now that he is staying in the NL. However, his career numbers suggest he will cool at some point.

Giants | SF to make late push for David Price

Thu, 30 Jul 2015 08:45:10 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price is expected to receive a late push from the San Francisco Giants to acquire him before the July 31 trade deadline.

Fantasy Tip: Price ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) is a FantasyScore stud wherever he pitches.

Giants | Defending champs look at David Price

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 20:49:54 -0700

Detroit Tigers SP David Price is a potential trade target for the San Francisco Giants, one of four teams in contact with the Tigers. The other teams are the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays.

Fantasy Tip: Price ($9,100, 18.2% of cap) is a stud FantasyScore option, but moving to AT&T Park would give him a bump in value. According to MLB Park Factors, AT&T Park ranks 29th in the majors in runs scored, with the least amount of home runs yielded in the league.

Giants | Buster Posey taking a break

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 12:07:57 -0700

San Francisco Giants C Buster Posey is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 29. C Hector Sanchez is behind the dish and is hitting seventh against Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) has a .194 average (7-for-36) with a home run and five RBI on the season as a backup catcher, and he's a desperation sleeper pick on FantasyScore.

Giants | No Angel Pagan Wednesday

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 12:04:01 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, July 29. OF Gregor Blanco is starting in center field and hitting second against Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is a fine value target for FantasyScore users today. He's hitting .316 (55-for-174) with all three of his home runs and 17 of his 19 RBI against right-handers in 2015.

Giants | Joe Panik remains out

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 12:00:12 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik (back) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, July 29. SS Ehire Adrianza is starting at the keystone again and is hitting eighth against Milwaukee Brewers SP Mike Fiers.

Fantasy Tip: Panik's injury isn't believed to be serious. After another day of rest with an off day tomorrow, expect Panik to return to the lineup Friday. Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has just two hits in 19 at-bats this year and is an option to avoid on FantasyScore.

Giants | Jake Peavy good against Brewers

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 10:34:40 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy is 4-4 with a 2.44 ERA in 12 career starts against the Milwaukee Brewers, but he is 3-2 with a 1.56 ERA against them in his last six outings. Peavy faces the Brewers Wednesday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: Sure, Peavy ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been good against the Brew Crew in his career, and they aren't in contention this season. But the Brewers have actually been one of the hotter offensive clubs since the All-Star break, and Peavy has allowed seven runs in his last two starts. Peavy might be a bigger risk than you want to take in daily games today.

Giants | SF unlikely to land Cole Hamels

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 10:22:53 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels is of interest to the San Francisco Giants, but the Giants haven't been in touch with Philadelphia regarding Hamels in the last 24 hours, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Phillies are encouraging interested teams to submit their best offers for Hamels sometime today, so the Giants look to be fading from the running. The Los Angeles Dodgers just acquired Mat Latos from the Miami Marlins, so the Texas Rangers might be the sole favorite for Hamels at this point. Stay tuned.

Giants | Joe Panik has stiff back

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 05:20:10 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik (back) is day to day with back tightness.

Fantasy Tip: Ehire Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is 2-for-19 (.105) on the season and isn't worth starting on FantasyScore if Panik is out again Wednesday.

Giants | Ehire Adrianza makes a rare start

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:47:55 -0700

San Francisco Giants SS Ehire Adrianza is making the start at second base Tuesday, July 28, against the Milwaukee Brewers while 2B Joe Panik gets a breather.

Fantasy Tip: Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is worth using if you want to punt a position and load up on studs at other positions in FantasyScore.

Giants | Joe Panik takes a seat

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 17:43:15 -0700

San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik is not in the starting lineup Tuesday, July 28, against the Milwaukee Brewers. He had played in 95 of the team's first 99 games. SS Ehire Adrianza makes the start in Panik's absence.

Fantasy Tip: Panik ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) is getting a breather, so use Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and spread some of that extra salary on another stud in FantasyScore.

Giants | San Fran making push for Cole Hamels

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 06:17:45 -0700

Philadelphia Phillies SP Cole Hamels is receiving a strong pursuit by the San Francisco Giants in recent days. The Texas Rangers and Los Angeles Dodgers are still ahead of the Giants in the lead to acquire him, but the Giants have $50 million coming off their books at the end of the year.

Fantasy Tip: Hamels ($8,900, 17.8% of cap) is a top-flight starter no matter where he pitches, but San Francisco could give him a boost on FantasyScore.

Giants | Angel Pagan remains at leadoff

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 17:44:26 -0700

San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan remains atop the batting order Monday, July 27, against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) continues to lead off despite the return of Nori Aoki from the 15-day disabled list. Pagan's FantasyScore value is obviously much higher at leadoff than in the eighth spot of the batting order.

Giants | Nori Aoki batting eighth

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 17:43:46 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants OF Nori Aoki (leg) was activated from the 15-day disabled list Monday, July 27, and he is starting in left field and batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Give Aoki a few games to get knock off the rust before trusting him in your FantasyScore lineup again.

Giants | Chris Heston has been hard to hit

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 17:07:58 -0700

San Francisco Giants SP Chris Heston is 5-1 with a 1.83 ERA in his last eight starts, and he has allowed three runs or less in each of those eight starts.

Fantasy Tip: Heston ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) faces the Milwaukee Brewers tonight. The Brewers have the third highest OPS (.805) in the month of July, so Heston isn't a slam dunk on FantasyScore. However, pitching in San Fran should help, where he has a 2.57 ERA.
