Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants SP Jake Peavy (back) was placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a lower back strain. He had been scheduled to make his next start against the Los Angeles Dodgers Thursday, April 23. Manager Bruce Bochy is uncertain how his spot in the rotation will be filled but the club could turn to Ryan Vogelsong or Yusmeiro Petit for a spot start or promote a starter from the minors. Bochy also mentioned the team could use a four-man rotation for the next week but it would require some of their starters to pitch on short rest.
Fantasy Tip: It is still uncertain how much time Peavy is expected to miss. Both Vogelsong ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) and Petit have struggled this season and neither pitcher would make a viable FantasyScore option Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Belt ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is starting in left field because Buster Posey ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) is at first base and Andrew Susac is behind the plate Sunday.
Sun, 19 Apr 2015 11:53:01 -0700
Fantasy Tip: This is a way to keep Posey's ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) bat in the lineup while not putting as much strain on his body. Susac is not yet available in FantasyScore.

San Francisco Giants SP Chris Heston struck out six batters through 7 2/3 innings to win his second game of the season over the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday, April 18. Heston allowed one earned run on five hits and a walk.
Fantasy Tip: Heston ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) now owns a 0.87 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP and a 7.0 K/9 for the season. He projects to make his next start at hitter-friendly Coors Field, so it might be best to take another look at Heston against the Colorado Rockies Friday, April 24, before adding him to your fake team. FantasyScore owners should view Heston as a high-risk, high-reward play for his next start.

Fantasy Tip: Peavy was ineffective in his first start, and there's no word on the specific nature of the DL stint. It could be related to the back issue that delayed his start to the season. Ryan Vogelsong ($3,200, 6.4% of your cap) could re-enter the rotation, but he has given up 12 earned runs in 10 1/3 innings thus far.

Fantasy Tip: McGehee ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is an underrated commodity in the daily racket, because his lack of power doesn't translate well to year-long leagues. While Friday isn't likely the best night to utilize him in FantasyScore contests, at his price point, he should be on your radar going forward.

San Francisco Giants OF Hunter Pence (arm) has been swinging a whiffle bat, according to Giants head coach Bruce Bochy, Thursday, April 16. Pence remains without a timetable for a return, and he will need an extended rehab assignment.
Fantasy Tip: Pence ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) needs to be stashed on all rosters in leagues with disabled list spots and even deeper leagues without the extra roster space. OF Gregor Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) continues to fill in and can be worthy of FantasyScore consideration against right-handed pitching.

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee (knee) remains out of the starting lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks Thursday, April 16. 2B Matt Duffy will start at third base again and hit second in the batting order.
Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) isn't the greatest of second base options for those playing on FantasyScore, but his placement near the top of the San Fran lineup gives him at least a little upside. Duffy hit his first homer of the season Wednesday night. Against Diamondbacks starter Archie Bradley, though, Duffy figures to be a weak play.

San Francisco Giants 3B Casey McGehee (knee) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, April 15. 2B Matt Duffy will start at third base again and hit second in the lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Matzek.
Fantasy Tip: Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is a low-priced flier while hitting high in the order against Matzek, who has been generous to right-handed hitters in his career.
Wed, 15 Apr 2015 15:42:35 -0700
San Francisco Giants OF Brandon Crawford is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Tyler Matzek Wednesday, April 15. SS Joaquin Arias is starting at shortstop and hitting seventh in the batting order.
Fantasy Tip: Arias ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should never really be a recommendation for FantasyScore lineups, other than to save you considerable money for the rest of your lineup.
Wed, 15 Apr 2015 15:38:04 -0700
San Francisco Giants OF Gregor Blanco is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies left-handed SP Tyler Matzek Wednesday, April 15. OF Justin Maxwell is starting in right field and hitting fifth in the batting order.
Fantasy Tip: Maxwell ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is in a favorable lineup position Wednesday night, but he's a low-end outfield option at FantasyScore. For his career, Maxwell is batting just .231 in 325 at-bats against southpaws.
Wed, 15 Apr 2015 15:15:24 -0700
San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies left-handed SP Tyler Matzek Wednesday, April 15. C Buster Posey is starting at first base and hitting cleanup, while C Hector Sanchez is catching and hitting sixth in the batting order.
Fantasy Tip: Belt ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is hitting just .125 this year after dealing with a groin injury in the early going. Posey ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) had the day off yesterday and should be considered a strong catching option at FantasyScore tonight.
Tue, 14 Apr 2015 16:49:27 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Pence is expected to be out for a while longer, and he'll likely need an extended rehab assignment before making his season debut in San Francisco. Until then, Gregor Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) will continue to see the majority of playing time in right field. Blanco can be useful at FantasyScore in the right matchups, mainly against righty pitchers.
Tue, 14 Apr 2015 16:45:50 -0700
Fantasy Tip: McGehee's injury isn't believed to be serious, so he could return any day now. Duffy ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) isn't a recommended FantasyScore play Tuesday night, even against Colorado Rockies starter Christian Bergman.
Tue, 14 Apr 2015 15:34:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Posey's injury doesn't seem serious at all. Expect him back in there tomorrow. Hector Sanchez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) gets the starting nod behind the dish, and he's hitting seventh in the order. There are better catching options at your disposal than Sanchez at FantasyScore.
