San Francisco Giants 2B Joe Panik (back) is expected to play three rehab games for Class AAA Sacramento prior to being activated from the disabled list Monday, Sept. 7, before the beginning of a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Fantasy Tip: Panik's ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) return will likely signal a sharp decrease in playing time for Kelby Tomlinson ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), who is batting .313 with a home run and 13 RBIs through 26 games. Panik had been playing well prior to getting injured and should be a FantasyScore lineup consideration as soon as he returns.

Fantasy Tip: If all goes well, Cain ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) could wind up returning from the 15-day disabled list after being sidelined for the minimum number of days. He was 1-3 with a 6.70 ERA in eight starts since the All-Star break prior to getting injured, so FantasyScore owners shouldn't rush to add him to their lineups once he returns.

San Francisco Giants SP Mike Leake is 2-3 with a 5.35 ERA in six games (five starts) in his career against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who he faces Wednesday, Sept. 2. He is 0-1 in three starts since joining the Giants in a midseason trade.
Fantasy Tip: It's unlikely that Leake ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) will be a popular pick against the Dodgers tonight in his third start since coming off the DL. He'll be at another nice pitching-friendly environment, but there's plenty of risk involved if you feel like zigging when others zag.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) actually has decent numbers against left-handers (.290/.362/.371), but Kershaw is a rare breed and has been lights out in the second half. It would be wise to avoid Blanco tonight.

San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (calf) is not in the lineup for the second straight game Wednesday, Sept. 2. SS Ehire Adrianza is starting at the 6 and hitting eighth against Los Angeles Dodgers SP Clayton Kershaw.
Fantasy Tip: Avoid Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) against last year's National League Cy Young winner on FantasyScore.

San Francisco Giants SP Tim Lincecum (hip) will visit with a hip specialist in Colorado Wednesday, Sept. 2, to determine if he'll need to have surgery on his degenerative hip. He's already visited multiple doctors for his injury, and he's expected to make a final decision tomorrow. Lincecum doesn't have severe pain, but he's bothered by instability that has often caused him to slip on the mound during his rehab. Doctors have told him he would be ready for spring training if he undergoes surgery, and they believe his velocity decline is directly related to his hip. Lincecum wasn't progressing as he hoped after receiving multiple cortisone shots.
Fantasy Tip: Either way, Lincecum ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has likely thrown his last pitch for the Giants this year, so he can be ignored everywhere. If he recovers in time for the regular season next year, he could be a flier in the late rounds of fantasy drafts, and as a free agent this winter, his best chances to make a fantasy impact in 2016 may be somewhere other than SF.

Fantasy Tip: Blanco's ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) injury doesn't sound too serious, but avoid him in FantasyScore until he can officially return and prove his health in a game or two without any lingering effects of the ailment.
Tue, 01 Sep 2015 17:58:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Adrianza ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) isn't a bad late-game substitute in FantasyScore, especially if you want to bulk up at other positions with some extra salary.

Fantasy Tip: Crawford ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) was hit by pitch Monday. Normally we have these type of nagging injuries in the summer, and guys will try to play through. But once rosters expand, there is a lot more flexibility for teams, and they can rest a guy with a minor ailment more easily than when rosters are limited to 25.

Fantasy Tip: The plan is for Hudson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) to pitch out of the bullpen primarily down the stretch, but he is expected to make at least one more start before the season is over. His fantasy value is at an all-time low, and he isn't worth a roster spot in the majority of seasonal leagues. Check back for an update on whether Hudson will grab another start before the end of the season.
Tue, 01 Sep 2015 15:42:37 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Pagan ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is having a disastrous season with a .258/.290/.308 slash line, no home runs and just six stolen bases. He is a desperation play in all fantasy formats outside of NL-only and cavernous mixed leagues where he checks out as a low-end outfielder. You should aim higher at FantasyScore until Pagan shows some life at the dish.
Mon, 31 Aug 2015 22:00:56 -0700
Fantasy Tip: De Aza ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) will provide depth for the Giants and is only worth using in FantasyScore if he can return to a starting role at some point.
Mon, 31 Aug 2015 18:46:30 -0700
San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson (shoulder) was informed Monday, Aug. 31, that he will work out of the bullpen in a relief role, and will also see at least one start, in the final month of the regular season.
Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to avoid Hudson ($5,100, 10.2% of cap) until he returns to a starting role and also faces a very favorable matchup. Until then he is useless in a relief role.
Mon, 31 Aug 2015 15:57:22 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Crawford ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has missed a handful of games because of the injury but has returned to the lineup. He is hitting .253 with three home runs and 11 RBI this month and could be a solid starting option if he is healthy.
Mon, 31 Aug 2015 01:14:22 -0700
San Francisco Giants SS Brandon Crawford (oblique) took ground balls on Sunday, Aug. 30, prior to the game with the St. Louis Cardinals. He is expected to play Monday, Aug. 31, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fantasy Tip: As with any injured player, Crawford ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) should be watched carefully or even skipped in FantasyScore until he works out the kinks in his swing.
