Share: Giants | Ryan Vogelsong injury update Mon, 17 Jun 2013 17:31:23 -0700 San Francisco Giants SP Ryan Vogelsong (hand) will have his hand re-examined Tuesday, June 17, with the hope of taking another step in his recovery. If X-rays show healing, pins could be removed from Vogelsong's hand. "Hopefully there's some pins coming out tomorrow," he said. "That's the plan, but obviously I don't know for sure until I get some X-rays tomorrow and see how things are healing. It's good news, but I'm a little worried about getting pins pulled out of my hand. It'll be a good thing. I'll get over it. I should be able to start moving it around a little bit more." Share: Giants | Angel Pagan hoping to avoid surgery Mon, 17 Jun 2013 12:04:40 -0700 San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (hamstring) is hoping to avoid surgery on his left hamstring. Share: Giants | Marco Scutaro took swings Fri, 14 Jun 2013 15:12:09 -0700 San Francisco Giants 2B Marco Scutaro (finger) took swings in an indoor cage before batting practice Friday, June 14. Share: Giants | Make roster moves Thu, 13 Jun 2013 13:17:00 -0700 The San Francisco Giants have recalled C Hector Sanchez and P Jake Dunning from Triple-A Fresno. Share: Giants | Pablo Sandoval getting better Wed, 12 Jun 2013 15:52:00 -0700 San Francisco Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval (foot) said his strained left foot has improved and had "a hop in his step," according to manager Bruce Bochy. The manager is completely confident that Sandoval will be ready to come off the DL when first eligible, on June 24. Fantasy Tip: Good news for his fantasy owners. Bochy must be optimistic that Big Panda will lose a few pounds by then, too, since that was the stated goal. Hopefully that won't require being on his feet much. Share: Giants | Angel Pagan won't be activated this weekend Wed, 12 Jun 2013 15:48:29 -0700 San Francisco Giants OF Angel Pagan (hamstring) has improved, according to manager Bruce Bochy, but the outfielder won't be activated from the disabled list before the team's road trip ends this Sunday, June 16. Pagan has yet to jog or perform any baseball activities. Fantasy Tip: At this point, Pagan may even need a very short rehab assignment, so this absence seems likely to extend into next week. Gregor Blanco will continue to fill in most of the time in center field and at leadoff. Share: Giants | Marco Scutaro update Wed, 12 Jun 2013 15:37:11 -0700 San Francisco Giants 2B Marco Scutaro (finger) saw a hand specialist on Wednesday, June 12, for the tendon injury in his pinkie that resulted from being hit by a pitch on Tuesday, June 11. He was told that surgery wasn't required for his case of "mallet finger" and that he didn't have to rule out a return to action once the swelling and pain subside, in a couple of days. The usual treatment options for this injury -- complete immobilization with a splint or the insertion of a pin -- wouldn't work if he tried to play, however. He's wearing a modified splint for the time being. If he doesn't keep the finger straight for four to six weeks, it would become deformed permanently. "I want to play. I also want to have a good finger. I don't want to live with a finger like this," said Scutaro. Manager Bruce Bochy is leaving it up to the player. Fantasy Tip: Bochy seems to hope that Scutaro decides to gut it out, but the safe thing, perhaps even for his performance, would be to put him on the DL, even though he thinks how he grips a bat won't be affected. Fantasy owners will know more in a few days. Share: Giants | Marco Scutaro not ruled out for next series Wed, 12 Jun 2013 14:29:28 -0700 San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy is not ruling out 2B Marco Scutaro (pinkie) for the team's next series against the Atlanta Braves. Bochy said the team does not have any problem with Scutaro playing through the injury.
