Fantasy Tip: It should come as no surprise either player is available. Cashner has been on the block for some time, while Norris brings a little pop to a position that is lacking it across the league. It helps the Padres are comfortable with backup Christian Bethancourt and also have prospect Austin Hedges waiting in the wings. Hedges is tearing it up at Class AAA El Paso, batting .367 with 17 homers and 61 RBI in 47 games. Both Bethancourt and Hedges should be on fantasy rosters should Norris get dealt.

Fantasy Tip: Schimpf may be playing himself into a regular roster job before you know it. With Cory Spangenberg and Jemile Weeks out due to injury, Schimpf is producing on a regular basis and should be picked up in DFS formats and deeper NL and mixed leagues.

San Diego Padres OF Melvin Upton Jr. is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Lucas Giolito Sunday, July 24. OF Alex Dickerson will play left field and bat fifth. In addition, C Derek Norris is back in the lineup, batting eighth.
Fantasy Tip: Upton has been the subject of numerous trade rumors recently, although it does not appear as though a deal is imminent. Dickerson is batting .227 with two home runs and 10 RBI through 66 at-bats but daily fantasy owners should be able to find better options this afternoon.

Fantasy Tip: Naylor is a 19-year-old left-handed-hitting prospect currently playing for Class A Greensboro. He is batting .365 with nine home runs, 53 RBI and 10 steals through 84 games and is unlikely to have a fantasy impact in the next two or three years, although he should be on the radar of owners in dynasty leagues.

According to multiple sources, nearly 10 MLB teams have expressed interest in trading for San Diego Padres SP Andrew Cashner. The Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros, Miami Marlins, San Francisco Giants, Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays are among the clubs that have talked to the Padres in recent days about the 29-year-old right-hander.
Fantasy Tip: Cashner is 4-7 with a 4.79 ERA this season but he has allowed just two runs on seven hits over his last two outings, with no walks and 17 strikeouts. He will become a free agent after the season, making it almost certain that he will be traded to a contender within the next few days. Cashner should be viewed as a decent fantasy option regardless of the uniform he's wearing.

Fantasy Tip: Ross is inching closer to his return, and if he happens to be on waivers in your league, grab him and stash him.

San Diego Padres SP Edwin Jackson allowed two runs on six hits while walking three and striking out one in a no-decision against the Washington Nationals Saturday, July 23, and he has allowed two runs in each of his first two starts with San Diego.
Fantasy Tip: Although Jackson has been stingy with his new team, he has also walked eight batters while striking out just five. Don't expect him to have much value going forward.

San Diego Padres 1B Wil Myers is in the starting lineup batting second against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer on Saturday, July 23. OF Travis Jankowski is also back after a rest day and will hit leadoff. However, C Derek Norris will sit in favor of C Christian Bethancourt, who will fill in behind the plate and bat seventh.
Fantasy Tip: Myers sat out Friday after getting hit by a pitch for the first time all season Thursday, but the absence was not believed to be injury-related and this proves it. A bigger concern for fantasy owners is his 2-for-22 slump - something that doesn't figure to get much better with Scherzer on the mound, although he is 4-for-6 lifetime against the right-hander. Myers has been too good this season to bench, so non-DFS owners should keep starting him in hopes he can get back on track soon.

Fantasy Tip: For the first time all season, Perdomo's ERA is under 7.00. He has posted a 6.90 ERA through 24 games (nine starts), although his ERA is a respectable 3.42 through four starts this month. Despite his recent success, he shouldn't be owned outside of the deepest of NL-only seasonal leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Kemp has homered six times in his last six games, making him a must-start option in all fantasy formats. Overall, he is batting .258 with 22 home runs and 67 RBI through 94 games this season.
Fri, 22 Jul 2016 15:39:09 -0700
San Diego Padres SP Luis Perdomo was asked to throw his sinker almost exclusively lately, and his 60% ground-ball rate in the last 30 days is the best mark in the National League. Perdomo has allowed three earned runs or fewer in six of his last eight starts, but he also has an unsightly 7.36 ERA on the year.
Fantasy Tip: Perdomo is an intriguing young arm for the Friars with his ground-ball tendencies and strikeout upside (7.5 K/9). But until he shows more consistency, he's nothing more than a matchup play in NL-only and daily leagues. Running with him against the Nationals tonight is not advised.

Fantasy Tip: Myers, a first-time All-Star this year, has gone just 4-for-25 (.160) with a homer and RBI since the break. It makes sense for him to take a breather tonight. He must remain in all starting lineups from here on out when playing, though. Wallace is barely over the Mendoza Line (.209) and has just five homers and 15 RBI on the season. Ignore him in DFS.

Fantasy Tip: Upton's combination of speed (20 stolen bases) and power (16 home runs) plays in all fantasy formats. His resurgent season has made him a fine value play in daily leagues, too, including tonight in his return to the leadoff role. Schimpf is likely hitting second with Wil Myers out this evening, but it's notable. The second baseman has shown impressive pop with seven long balls in just 78 at-bats and shouldn't be ignored as a low-price DFS play tonight.
Thu, 21 Jul 2016 20:15:03 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cashner has allowed two earned runs while striking out 17 over 11 2/3 innings in his last two starts. He is pitching as well as he has all year, so feel free to take a flier on him in NL-only formats.
Thu, 21 Jul 2016 19:57:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Solarte's average has been rock solid all year, and he is worth a look in deeper mixed formats in case his power continues to trend upward.
