Philadelphia Phillies news, rumors and injuries
Sun, 24 May 2015 10:16:18 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ruiz ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) probably is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup. Rupp ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should not be a starting option on FantasyScore since he is hitting only .186.
Sun, 24 May 2015 10:07:59 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has struggled against left-handed pitchers, so he receives a day off. Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is hitting .256 with five RBI this month but is not a great option on FantasyScore.
Sun, 24 May 2015 09:58:33 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Utley ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) likely is sitting because the team is facing a left-handed pitcher. Hernandez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has posted decent numbers in his limited playing time, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options.
Sat, 23 May 2015 18:47:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: After an uneven first month, Hamels ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) has a 1.53 ERA during his four-start winning streak and is looking like an ace once again. He is worth is using at FantasyScore against any opponent when he is pitching like this.

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Ryan Howard went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored in an 8-1 win over the Washington Nationals Saturday, May 23, and he is hitting .385 with three home runs and five RBIs through the first six games of their 10-game road trip.
Fantasy Tip: Howard's ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) strong month shows no signs of stopping, and he is providing great production for the price at FantasyScore right now.
Sat, 23 May 2015 12:05:03 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Galvis ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has struggled at the plate recently, going 4-for-29 in his last seven games with no RBIs. Hernandez ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) provides salary cap relief in FantasyScore but not much else.
Fri, 22 May 2015 13:24:54 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) offers little upside in all fantasy formats facing Max Scherzer Friday. For the season, Sizemore's four runs, six RBI and .601 OPS leave a lot to be desired, and his ownership should be limited to cavernous mixed and NL-only leagues.
Thu, 21 May 2015 18:26:51 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Sizemore ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) was a fringe option at best at FantasyScore when he was playing regularly, and he probably isn't worth using at all if he is going to be in and out of the lineup sporadically.
Thu, 21 May 2015 18:16:18 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Although Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) may have been helped by Colorado's hitter friendly park, he has been solid in May in general. He is hitting .325 with five home runs, and he has nice upside for the price at FantasyScore thanks to his power.
Thu, 21 May 2015 09:23:57 -0700
Philadelphia Phillies C Carlos Ruiz is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 21. C Cameron Rupp is behind the dish and is hitting eighth in the batting order against Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa.
Fantasy Tip: Rupp ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .171 (7-for-41) with one RBI on the season. You should look elsewhere for your FantasyScore lineups, even at hitter-friendly Coors Field.
Thu, 21 May 2015 09:17:45 -0700
Philadelphia Phillies OF Ben Revere is not in the starting lineup Thursday, May 21. OF Darin Ruf is starting in left field and hitting third in the batting order against Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa.
Fantasy Tip: Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is an intriguing under-the-radar FantasyScore candidate today. He's hitting barely over .200 on the season, but he is 7-for-22 (.318) with two of his three home runs off lefties. De La Rosa has been much better in his career at hitter-friendly Coors Field, oddly enough, but he's also wildly inconsistent. Ruf could be a sneaky sleeper pick.

Fantasy Tip: Howard ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) looks the best he has in four years, ever since that fateful Achilles tear in the 2011 National League Championship Series. At this lower price, he is definitely worth putting in your lineup.
Wed, 20 May 2015 15:04:58 -0700
Philadelphia Phillies OF Jeff Francoeur is starting in right field and hitting sixth in the batting order against Colorado Rockies SP Eddie Butler Wednesday, May 20. OF Grady Sizemore will start on the bench.
Fantasy Tip: Francoeur ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is hitting just .225 (20-for-89) with three home runs and 11 RBI, and he's been even worse against righties (.213/.269/.426). Not even the fact that he's taking hacks at hitter-friendly Coors Field should make you want to play him at FantasyScore right now.
Mon, 18 May 2015 14:55:19 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Billingsley can be ignored in all fantasy formats until he returns and proves his health. He isn't worth stashing outside of NL-only formats, and even there, he is nothing more than a desperation play. After all, he has only pitched 28 innings since 2012.
Mon, 18 May 2015 14:50:02 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Starting in Coors Field isn't an ideal pitching environment, to say the least. Plus, Gonzalez has just 7 2/3 innings of experience at the highest level, including his debut start Tuesday, April 28, where he lasted just 2 2/3 innings and allowed 10 hits and seven earned runs. Start Gonzalez in all fantasy formats at your own risk.
