Philadelphia Phillies SP Zach Eflin endured a rough outing Wednesday, July 27, against the Miami Marlins. The rookie right-hander went five innings, yielding seven runs on nine hits and four walks. He also only struck out one.
Fantasy Tip: Coming off his first career shutout, not to mention an impressive streak of six straight quality starts, Eflin was hit hard this afternoon for the first time since his major league debut several weeks ago in Toronto. His ERA jumped up from 3.40 to 4.23 as a result of this performance, so hopefully this doesn't hinder the 22-year-old's confidence going into his next assignment.

Philadelphia Phillies OF Peter Bourjos (shoulder) is likely headed to the disabled list due to his right shoulder injury Thursday, July 28. OF Aaron Altherr (wrist) is expected to be activated Thursday after completing a rehab assignment.
Fantasy Tip: Altherr is hitting .351 with a homer, five RBI and two steals in 37 at-bats in the minors. He's an attractive pickup in NL-only leagues because he figures to play a lot the rest of the way. As for Bourjos, the team was hoping to trade him to make room for Altherr. Either way, his playing time is likely to heavily decline the rest of the way. He can be dropped if you need the space in NL-only leagues.

Philadelphia Phillies OF Cody Asche, SS Freddy Galvis and OF Peter Bourjos (shoulder) are out of the lineup Wednesday, July 27. OF Tyler Goeddel, 2B Taylor Featherston and OF Jimmy Paredes are hitting sixth, seventh and eighth.
Fantasy Tip: You're really trying to catch lightning in a bottle if you're looking for a basement play here. Paredes has the most upside because of his work in Baltimore last year. However, he has a .207-2-8 line in 82 at-bats. He faces lefty Adam Conley today and is the only of the three to have some fantasy merit.

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies OF Peter Bourjos (shoulder) does not have any broken bones in his shoulder after leaving the game Tuesday, July 26, due to an injury. He expects to miss a few days. "I jammed it pretty good," Bourjos said.
Fantasy Tip: Avoid him in all NL-only fantasy leagues that allow daily transactions and in DFS play until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks.
Tue, 26 Jul 2016 17:14:25 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Owners will need to look for an update on Bourjos' status after the game or in the next day. Bourjos has value in NL-only leagues but probably should be avoided in mixed leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Howard has been playing better in July with a .250 batting average and three home runs in 13 games. Owners in daily fantasy leagues that need power could consider using him, but he probably should still be avoided in most leagues.

Philadelphia Phillies SP Jerad Eickhoff is scheduled to start Tuesday, July 26, against the Miami Marlins. He allowed six runs - five earned - and nine hits over five innings in his most recent start July 21 against the Marlins in Philadelphia.
Fantasy Tip: Eickhoff is 6-11 with a 3.98 ERA. He is a solid fantasy option in most deeper NL-only leagues for his work in the ERA and WHIP categories, but his lack of wins takes away from his appeal.
Mon, 25 Jul 2016 20:09:04 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Franco is hitting .324 (24-for-74) in the month of July to raise his average from .243 to .260. He is a must-start fantasy option and he has a bright future.
Mon, 25 Jul 2016 20:08:36 -0700
Philadelphia Phillies SP Jeremy Hellickson allowed one hit and one walk over six scoreless innings in a no-decision Monday, July 25, against the Miami Marlins. He threw 45 of his 70 pitches for strikes, working at least six innings for a ninth straight start.
Fantasy Tip: Hellickson is on the trade block, and Miami could be one of the destinations. He certainly improved his stock with this performance, and for that Philadelphia thanks him.
Mon, 25 Jul 2016 13:45:41 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Franco's wrist injury wasn't too serious, as he only missed a few games. Get the young slugger back into all fantasy lineups. He's hitting a decent .259 with 18 long balls and 55 RBI on the season.
Sun, 24 Jul 2016 16:54:30 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Blanco was little more than a DFS flier, so his injury shouldn't have much of an impact on owners in season-long formats.
Sun, 24 Jul 2016 08:50:37 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Rupp is having a serviceable season in cavernous mixed, two-catcher and NL-only leagues with 23 runs, 10 home runs, 29 RBI and a .276/.323/.487 slash line. Ruiz is a potential flier in daily contests Sunday, but his seasonal value is extremely limited. He's handing over more and more playing time to Rupp.

Philadelphia Phillies 1B Tommy Joseph is not in the starting lineup Sunday, July 24. 1B Ryan Howard is starting at first base and is batting fourth against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jameson Taillon Sunday.
Fantasy Tip: Joseph has some feast or famine in his game with a .264/.299/.529 slash line and 13 home runs through 187 plate appearances. He's a fringe own in mixed leagues and viable option in deeper formats. Howard is nothing more than a desperation flier in daily contests Sunday, albeit one with power potential.

Philadelphia Phillies 3B Maikel Franco (wrist) is not in the starting lineup Sunday, July 24. INF Andres Blanco is starting at third base and batting third against Pittsburgh Pirates SP Jameson Taillon Sunday.
Fantasy Tip: Franco is missing his second consecutive game after being hit by a pitch in the wrist and leaving the game Friday, July 22. He's emerging as a solid power option at the hot corner with 18 home runs and 55 RBI this season. Blanco is nothing more than a low-priced flier in daily contests Sunday.

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Phillies C Cameron Rupp (head) did not show signs of sustaining a concussion Saturday, July 23, after being hit in the head by a 91-mph fastball from Pittsburgh Pirates SP Tyler Glasnow in the third inning, according to trainers from both teams.
Fantasy Tip: Consider Rupp day-to-day. Carlos Ruiz could see several starts behind the plate in his absence and he makes a solid value play for daily fantasy games. He is 9-for-18 (.500) with a double and two RBI during the month of July.
