Philadelphia Phillies news, rumors and injuries
Tue, 01 Sep 2015 11:47:17 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has notable power for daily owners, and he does have a slash line of .365/.430/.581 with an OPS of 1.011 against left-handers in 74 at-bats this season. He's a sleeper pick on FantasyScore tonight worth considering if you need to save money elsewhere.
Tue, 01 Sep 2015 11:36:20 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Sweeney ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has only three hits in 12 at-bats for the Phils since being called up, but two of those knocks were home runs. Still, he's a low-end FantasyScore commodity until we see more, even hitting in a great daily spot in the lineup tonight.

Philadelphia Phillies OF Jeff Francoeur will start in right field against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Monday, Aug. 31, and is batting fifth in the lineup. OF Cody Asche is not in the starting lineup.
Fantasy Tip: Francoeur ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is hitting .298 with three home runs and nine RBI this month and could be a cheaper starting option on FantasyScore.
Sun, 30 Aug 2015 15:54:24 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has been a dominant player for a Rule 5 selection, and he has turned into a reliable hitter for the Phillies. It's been a decent season, and that price makes Herrera a decent FantasyScore option.
Sat, 29 Aug 2015 12:47:37 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Hernandez ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has cooled off considerably recently. He is just 3-for-25 over the last seven days and should be avoided in FantasyScore tonight.
Sat, 29 Aug 2015 12:39:00 -0700
Philadelphia Phillies OF Domonic Brown will bat sixth and play right field against San Diego Padres SP Colin Rea Saturday, Aug. 29. OF Aaron Altherr, who played right field Friday, Aug. 28, will bat third and play left field Saturday, with OF Cody Asche getting the day off.
Fantasy Tip: Brown ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is batting only .175 with three home runs and 11 RBIs this month, so he should be ignored for fantasy purposes. Altherr ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is 7-for-27 this season, with all of his hits having gone for extra bases (four doubles, one triple and two home runs). He could be worth a flier in FantasyScore tonight.
Sat, 29 Aug 2015 12:37:24 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Sweeney ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is 2-for-10 with a solo home run in his brief major league career. FantasyScore owners should avoid using him until he has more of a track record to go on.
Fri, 28 Aug 2015 19:37:10 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Rupp ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is batting .360 with six home runs and 16 RBIs during the month of August. He makes an excellent source of moderate cap relief in FantasyScore.
Fri, 28 Aug 2015 19:28:58 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Nola ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) went 4-0 in six starts during the month of August and has won his last five decisions. He will make his next start against the New York Mets Wednesday, Sept. 2, at Citi Field.
Fri, 28 Aug 2015 14:17:42 -0700
San Diego Padres OF Matt Kemp (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup Friday, Aug. 28. OF Travis Jankowski is playing right field and batting ninth against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola Friday.
Fantasy Tip: Kemp ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has been on a tear since the All-Star break, and don't forget he finished 2014 strong, too. Make sure to avoid him in all fantasy formats Friday, though, as he is dealing with a sore shoulder. Expect him back sooner than later. FantasyScore players have no reason to target Jankowski ($2,600, 5.2% of cap), either.
Fri, 28 Aug 2015 12:44:16 -0700
Fantasy Tip: It is the first game Altherr ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has started against a right-handed pitcher, and he checks out as a potential low-price flier for FantasyScore players Friday. Just note it isn't a great matcup, as Kennedy ($8,100, 16.2% of cap) has allowed three runs or fewer in 14 of his past 15 starts and owns a 2.63 ERA during the stretch. At this point, Brown ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation play in all fantasy formats, and you should aim higher.
Thu, 27 Aug 2015 12:14:40 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Francoeur ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has been drawing in against lefties frequently of late but owns an underwhelming .664 OPS against them. In fact, he is better against righties. Still, Francoeur is a viable value play at FantasyScore Thursday. Make sure to avoid Brown Thursday. The streaky outfielder owns a .182/.262/.345 slash line in August, and you should likely be aiming higher in all fantasy formats.
Thu, 27 Aug 2015 12:06:51 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Against southpaws, Ruf ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has a .366/.434/.549 slash line through 83 plate appearances this season. He is a viable low-priced option at FantasyScore Thursday. Howard ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been sneaky good of late with 17 RBI and a .304/.345/.519 slash line over his past 21 games. He could help down the stretch for seasonal teams chasing in home runs and RBI.
Thu, 27 Aug 2015 12:00:51 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Galvis ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has been batting second in the order the past three games, but Andres Blanco ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) shifts back to the two-hole Thursday. It doesn't have a huge impact on Blanco who is a low-end flier at FantasyScore Thursday, but Galvis takes a huge value hit batting in front of the pitcher. You can avoid Galvis in daily contests Thursday.
Wed, 26 Aug 2015 20:36:38 -0700
Fantasy Tip: About a week ago, it appeared as though Franco ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) might be finished for the season, so this is good news for fantasy owners. Andres Blanco ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) will continue to receive most of the starts at the hot corner for the Phils until he returns.
