Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray struck out five, walked two and allowed four hits and two runs Friday, May 29, as the Athletics won 6-2 over the New York Yankees. Gray retired 11 batters at one point.
Fantasy Tip: Gray ($8,300, 16.6% of cap) was hit in his ankle by a line drive in the previous start, but he showed no ill effects from it during this game. Gray maintains his status as a must start every time he takes the mound.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see if Crisp ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) will be able to play again this season. Sam Fuld ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) could see regular playing time with Crisp sidelined but is not a great option on FantasyScore since he is hitting only .195 on the season.

Oakland Athletics SP A.J. Griffin (shoulder, elbow) is scheduled to make a rehab start for high-Class A Stockton Tuesday, June 2. He is scheduled to pitch three innings or throw 45 pitches in the game.
Fantasy Tip: Griffin likely will need to make several rehab starts so he can build up his arm for longer starts. Owners should monitor his progress during his rehab assignment and could consider him in AL-only and deeper leagues when he is ready to return.

Fantasy Tip: Pomeranz ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) as a 4.40 ERA and 6.7 K/9 in 43 innings over eight starts this year. Don't feel the need to hang onto him while he's rehabbing in shallow mixed formats. Upon his return, a healthy Pomeranz can be a cheap matchup play on FantasyScore.

Oakland Athletics C Josh Phegley and OF Mark Canha are both starting again against a left-handed pitcher Friday, May 29. Phegley is catching and hitting eighth in the batting order, while Canha is starting in left field and hitting ninth against New York Yankees SP Chris Capuano.
Fantasy Tip: The matchup tonight against Capuano is a good one for both Phegley ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) and Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) to return great value on FantasyScore. Phegley has an OPS of .809 with his lone homer against southpaws in 32 at-bats. Canha is a bit more of a reach at a more expensive price, as he's hitting only .116 (5-for-43) with no homers and three RBI against lefties in 2015.

Updating previous reports, Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) would be forced to retire if he's unable to avoid neck surgery. He's going to receive an epidural Friday, May 29, and be shut down for a month.
Fantasy Tip: With him being idle until the end of June, he's unlikely to be back before the All-Star break. Only DL him in single-universe leagues.

Updating a previous report, Oakland Athletics SP Scott Kazmir (shoulder) will be skipped in the rotation after he dealt with tightness in his sore shoulder in his last outing. However, an MRI exam showed no structural damage in his left shoulder. "We're looking at him miss just one start," manager Bob Melvin told reporters. "The MRI showed just a bit of a weak shoulder.
Fantasy Tip: Kazmir ($6,800, 13.6% of cap), who has dealt with a number of arm injuries in his career before, looks to have dodged a bullet. However, after missing a turn in the rotation, he won't be a very safe play in his initial start back on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: With Crisp out of the lineup, the A's have been relying primarily on OFs Billy Burns ($3,400, 6.8% of cap), Josh Reddick ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) and Sam Fuld ($2,500, 5.0% of cap). With a slightly discounted price, Burns is the most intriguing option for FantasyScore purposes.

Fantasy Tip: Kazmir ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) should be kept on rosters in season-long leagues. FantasyScore owners should allow Kazmir to get through one start without any setbacks before reinvesting.
Thu, 28 May 2015 14:13:16 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Reddick ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) has fell into a 12-for-52 skid with just four runs, a home run, five RBI and a .231/.298/.404 slash line dating back to Wednesday, May 13. Still, at this reasonable cap hit, Reddick holds upside for FantasyScore players despite his recent form. Seasonal owners should remain patient with Reddick through the slide, too.

Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) made his 2015 debut Tuesday, May 27, when he pitched a scoreless sixth inning against the Detroit Tigers. Doolittle said he felt good about his ability to locate his fastball and see improvement with his changeup and slider, two pitches he worked on while rehabbing a shoulder injury. Doolittle's fastball did not top 90 mph.
Fantasy Tip: Doolittle will slowly work his way back into form with hopes to recapture the closer role. The odds are in his favor, but owners should continue to play Tyler Clippard as long as he has the job.

Fantasy Tip: The A's won't know whether Kazmir ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) will need to go on the DL until they get the results of his exam. There's a good chance he'll need to be sidelined, though, as the left-hander has had shoulder problems in his career in the past. Plan for the worst if you own him, and be prepared to go without him at FantasyScore for a while.

Fantasy Tip: Kazmir ($6,800, 13.6% of cap) may be in danger of missing his next start, depending on the severity of his shoulder injury. He was pitching well against the Tigers before leaving, too, so it'd be a shame if he's forced to the DL. Stay tuned for updates on his condition. Depending on the injury, it might be wise to avoid Kazmir at FantasyScore the next time he takes the mound again.

Fantasy Tip: Even in a game started by a relief pitcher, Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) makes for a low-end keystone option at FantasyScore tonight. Hitting at the bottom of a weak lineup doesn't help matters at all.
Wed, 27 May 2015 11:15:57 -0700
Fantasy Tip: With Davis out, Mark Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) and Max Muncy ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) should continue to form a platoon at first base. Neither player is a strong FantasyScore play, though.
