Oakland Athletics 1B Mark Canha was a late replacement into the lineup Tuesday, Aug. 4, against the Baltimore Orioles, replacing the injured OF Josh Reddick (back). It is Canha's first career start in right field.
Fantasy Tip: Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is a decent replacement for Reddick in FantasyScore, and he could be a good plug and play if you still have your first base spot open and need to upgrade at another position.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore players will want to get Reddick out of the lineup immediately, and keep him out until he can officially return and prove his health in a full game without any setbacks. Mark Canha ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) replaced him in the lineup.

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Hahn (forearm) still is experiencing stiffness in his forearm during strengthening exercises, according to manager Bob Melvin. Hahn will not resume throwing until he is pain-free.
Fantasy Tip: That basically means that Hahn ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) will miss more than his original diagnosis of a month. That's good news for the likes of Chris Bassitt and Aaron Brooks, who could stick in the rotation for even longer if they pitch well. Bassitt and Brooks are both worth considering if you need pitching help in deeper leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Griffin has been trying to return from Tommy John surgery, and he was getting close to a return before his shoulder acted up. At this point in the season, it's a long shot that he'll pitch in the major leagues. However, if he starts throwing in minor league games again this year, he could be ready to go and be in the starting rotation out of spring training in 2016.

Fantasy Tip: It's looking more and more like Doolittle could contribute to Oakland's bullpen again this season. And with Tyler Clippard out of the bullpen picture, it's conceivable that Doolittle could enter the saves picture and take ninth-inning duties away from Edward Mujica is he proves he's fully healthy. Stash Doolittle now if you're desperate for saves.

Fantasy Tip: Reddick ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is hitting third and facing Baltimore Orioles SP Miguel Gonzalez, who was thrashed in his last outing. Reddick should be good to go physically and is a strong FantasyScore play, as he's hitting .312 (84-for-269) with 11 of his 13 home runs against right-handed pitchers.

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez will make his next start in the rotation, according to manager Bob Melvin. Chavez has a 5.68 ERA and opponents are hitting .311 off him in his last 11 starts. Chavez feels like he's getting more side-to-side movement on his pitches instead of downward action, and a slight mechanical tweak could be the fix.
Fantasy Tip: Chavez ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has faded quickly and could be one more bad outing from being bumped from the rotation. He's not worth owning in mixed leauges right now and should be avoided at all costs on FantasyScore.

Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez was pounded for six runs in just 3 2/3 innings Monday, Aug. 3, against the Baltimore Orioles. He has posted a 5.68 ERA over his past 11 games while opponents are hitting .311 against him during the span.
Fantasy Tip: Chavez ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) has been terrible lately, so FantasyScore players should avoid him like the plague. Early in the year he wasn't getting wins because the run support just wasn't there. Lately, he isn't getting run support, and he surely isn't helping himself with uneven performances.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) looked good despite the long layoff and he can be trusted again in FantasyScore.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 15:53:57 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Doolittle has only pitched a single inning this season, but he could return to the vacated closer role before the end of the year. Continue to monitor his recovery and check back for updates. He is worth stashing in all formats if you have the room, but especially if you're chasing saves.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 14:50:29 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) has only played 13 games all season, and he missed all of June and July. So fantasy owners should keep their expectations in check early on in all formats, but especially at FantasyScore. In season leagues, Crisp likely should be reserved for deep mixed and AL-only leagues. At 35 and with all the injuries, though, there really might not be a lot left in the tank for Crisp to return in terms of fantasy production.
Mon, 03 Aug 2015 12:06:59 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Valencia ($2,900, 5.8% of cap) was having a respectable season for the Toronto Blue Jays, but his fantasy stock is only worth owning in AL-only and cavernous mixed leagues. At FantasyScore, though, he is a nice target against left-handed pitchers. Valencia is 24-for-76 against southpaws this season, and he has a career .326/.368/.497 slash line against them.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 17:20:37 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Crisp ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) is hitting just .044 in limited action this year, and you can afford to take a wait-and-see approach with him at FantasyScore.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 17:16:01 -0700
Oakland Athletics OF Josh Reddick (back) was pulled for a pinch-hitter in the fifth inning against the Cleveland Indians due to lower back tightness Sunday, Aug. 2, and he said he probably won't play against the Baltimore Orioles Monday, Aug. 3.
Fantasy Tip: Reddick ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) is a great play against right-handed pitching, but make sure to check on his status before using him at FantasyScore over the next few days.
Sun, 02 Aug 2015 12:43:36 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) is likely out of the lineup following four straight days of catching. Phegley ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) has a .271 average overall but a .167 mark in the last week, so his fantasy value is down.
