Oakland Athletics SP Sean Manaea allowed three earned runs with 11 hits and no walks while striking out nine batters over 6 2/3 innings in a no-decision against the Texas Rangers Wednesday, July 27. He threw 71 of his 96 pitches for strikes in the quality start.
Fantasy Tip: After a bit of a shaky start to his Oakland career, he has posted quality starts in each of his past four outings while managing a 1.69 ERA over the past 26 2/3 innings. He has emerged as a must-start in AL-only fantasy leagues and long-term keeper formats.

Fantasy Tip: Davis has managed 25 homers with 67 RBIs on the season, including six homers and 14 RBIs in the month of July. He has picked up the pace slightly in the batting average category and he remains a must-start in all fantasy formats, including rotisserie.

Fantasy Tip: Crisp missed a couple of games recently to a stiff neck. Fantasy owners know the drill by now. The veteran outfield has a propensity for injury, but when he is in the lineup is a dependable option.

Fantasy Tip: Doolittle does not appear to be close to returning to action, so he can be dropped if you need the roster space in AL-only or cavernous mixed seasonal leagues. In a best-case scenario, he probably won't resume pitching before rosters are expanded in September.

Fantasy Tip: Overton is 1-1 with an 8.40 ERA through three starts this season, with five walks and 10 strikeouts over 15 innings. Avoid using the 24-year-old rookie southpaw in all fantasy formats.

Fantasy Tip: Valencia has been excellent this season when on the field. But fantasy owners need to prepare for him to receiving less playing time going forward, and he's likely best left to deep mixed and AL-only leagues now. It's a shame because his .299/.351/.481 slash line plays in all settings. Healy is 11-for-43 (.256 batting average) with a .465 slugging percentage to start his career, and he's worth adding in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Reddick was held out of the lineup for a couple of games over the weekend due to a back issue, but he has four RBIs in two games since returning. It appears safe to get him back into the active lineup in all fantasy formats and DFS play.

Oakland Athletics OF Coco Crisp (neck) went 2-for-4 with a double, solo home run, walk and two RBIs Tuesday, July 26, against the Texas Rangers in his return to the lineup after missing two games due to a stiff neck.
Fantasy Tip: It appears safe to get Crisp back into the active fantasy lineup in all seasonal leagues and trust him as a mid-tier play in DFS, too.

Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray allowed three earned runs, five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over six innings in a win Tuesday, July 26, against the Texas Rangers. He allowed two more homers, and he has given up 17 on the season to match the career high he set last season.
Fantasy Tip: It's been a very disappointing season for the team's opening day starter, as he is just 5-9 with a 5.43 ERA despite the victory. Gray remains useful in AL-only fantasy play only at this point.

Oakland Athletics SP Rich Hill (finger) is hopeful to return Sunday, July 31. He has not started since July 17 due to a persistent blister. He was able to throw a bullpen session with tape over the blister Tuesday, July 26, after playing catch with it uncovered.
Fantasy Tip: Hill has had his name bandied about in trade rumors and he could be dealt by the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. Fantasy owners will want to keep him reserved until his situation becomes more certain.

Fantasy Tip: When healthy Phegley is only worth a look as a No. 2 receiver in AL-only fantasy formats. Stephen Vogt remains the primary backstop in Oakland.
Tue, 26 Jul 2016 19:15:03 -0700
Oakland Athletics RP Sean Doolittle (shoulder) has started doing "sock throws," or throwing balls the length of a sanitary sock, which limits the amount of strain on the shoulder and which is the first step before playing catch.
Fantasy Tip: Doolittle has a ways to go before he is able to return to the big club. With the closer situation rather shaky in Oakland, it's possible Doolittle could get a look in the role by the end of the season if he can return and stay healthy. However, don't expect that until at least September, if not 2017.
Tue, 26 Jul 2016 19:14:35 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Crisp still has plenty left in the tank, and he can help those in AL-only rotisserie formats in the runs scored and steals categories.
Tue, 26 Jul 2016 19:13:42 -0700
Oakland Athletics SP Ryan Madson will remain as the team's closer despite the fact he is tied for the league lead in blow saves and his ERA has increased in each month this season. "At this point, we still have confidence in him," manager Bob Melvin said Tuesday, July 26. "He's throwing as hard as he has all year here the last couple times out, he's performed really well the last couple of times before (Monday)."
Fantasy Tip: Madson has struggled, so fantasy owners of his will want to stash John Axford if you have the roster flexibility at this point.
Tue, 26 Jul 2016 14:41:34 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Vogt returns after missing the last few games because of a family issue. He is hitting .280 with eight home runs and 30 RBI this season and should be a decent starting option in deeper mixed leagues.
