Oakland Athletics news, rumors and injuries

Fantasy Tip: Obviously FantasyScore players will want to avoid Hahn ($4,400; 8.8% of cap). Jesse Sanchez will make the start in Hahnís place.
Mon, 20 Apr 2015 18:00:36 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Sanchez is only likely to be a one-and-done option, so FantasyScore owners and those in AL-only fantasy leagues need not bother with him unless he pitches so well Thursday that he unexpectedly sticks in the rotation.

Fantasy Tip: Parker is making his way back from reconstructive surgery. Itís uncertain if he will be plugged back into the rotation, or if he will have some sort of a role out of the bullpen. FantasyScore owners will want to avoid him until he can officially return and his role becomes more definitive.

Fantasy Tip: Zobrist ($3,800, 7.6% of cap) has had cartilage issues in his knee before, and he won't rule out surgery eventually, but it's not being discussed right now. Keep an eye on his progress. Eric Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), the light-hitting utility man, will likely start at the keystone for however long Zobrist sits. Sogard isn't very fantasy-relevant other than in deep AL-only leagues, and he'll be a weak option at FantasyScore.

Oakland Athletics 2B Ben Zobrist (knee) is not in the starting lineup Monday, April 20. 2B Eric Sogard is starting at the keystone and hitting eighth in the batting order against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Matt Shoemaker.
Fantasy Tip: Sogard ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) doesn't have much power to speak of and is more of a scrappy hitter. He hit just .228 (57-for-250) with one home run against righties in 2014. Sogard is a weak play for those playing FantasyScore this evening.
Sun, 19 Apr 2015 11:03:04 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Phegley ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is starting behind the plate in order to give Stephen Vogt ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) a day off. He makes a nice, low-cost option for FantasyScore owners who typically decide to punt the catcher position.
Sun, 19 Apr 2015 05:26:39 -0700
Oakland Athletics OF Josh Reddick hit his first home run of the season against the Kansas City Royals Saturday, April 18. Reddick finished 2-for-4 with three RBI in the Athletics 5-0 win over the Royals.
Fantasy Tip: With 24 at-bats under his belt, Reddick ($2,400 salary, 4.8% of cap) should now have the rust shaken off. He missed the beginning of the season with an oblique injury. At his low cap hit, FantasyScore players can start Reddick with confidence against weak right-handed pitchers.

Fantasy Tip: Hahn ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) has been throwing the ball well in his first season with the Athletics, and his ERA sits at 2.12. The blister situation needs to be monitored, but when healthy, Hahn should make a solid, cheaper pitching option at FantasyScore against most opponents.
Sat, 18 Apr 2015 06:51:02 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($2,500, 5.0% of cap) is off to a solid start at the plate with seven hits in his last five games. Vogt could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore to consider.

Fantasy Tip: While Doolittle is projected to return to the closer role, there is no guarantee that will be the case. Still, he is worth stashing in the majority of formats and is expected to return sometime around mid-May. Tyler Clippard hasn't had an opportunity to record a save in Doolittle's absence, but he is the current ninth-inning arm for Oakland.

Fantasy Tip: Parker is still months away from a return to the Oakland rotation, but he is making significant progress in his return from reconstructive surgery.
Tue, 14 Apr 2015 14:16:00 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Vogt ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is in the starting lineup for the A's and is a nice sleeper catching option at FantasyScore going against Houston Astros starter Brad Peacock Tuesday night.
Tue, 14 Apr 2015 11:04:44 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Butler ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) is off to a scorching start to the year (.387, 12-for-31), and you should ride him at FantasyScore while he's hot. He has a tempting matchup against Houston Astros starter Brad Peacock Tuesday, too.
Tue, 14 Apr 2015 07:48:31 -0700
Fantasy Tip: The 26-year-old checks in as a $1,800 (3.6% of your cap) first baseman on FantasyScore. He's a bargain buy during his early season success.
Mon, 13 Apr 2015 20:59:08 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Kazmir allowed just one run with three hits, three walks and eight strikeouts over six innings in the 91-pitch quality start, more than earning his $5,000 (or 10.0% of cap) price tag.
