Oakland Athletics 2B Jed Lowrie is batting a team-high .325 with 12 RBI while bouncing all over the lineup having batted everywhere but leadoff, eighth and ninth. Lowrie is also hitting .556 with runners in scoring position and .429 during his current six-game hitting streak.
Fantasy Tip: Lowrie's solid start still doesn't move the fantasy needle enough to make him anything more than a low-end starter in deep mixed leagues. He hasn't hit a home run or stole a base yet this season and owns an underwhelming .351 slugging percentage, after all.

Fantasy Tip: Bassitt has now had two poor outings in a row, and simply hasn't been as consistent as he was during his breakout in the latter half of last season. The difference in velocity really hasn't been that significant, but regardless, the right-hander should not be plugged into starting lineups right now with how he has looked as of late. If his struggles continue, he could ultimately be supplanted in the rotation by the returning Henderson Alvarez.

Fantasy Tip: Alvarez has potential to help stabilize your ratios and pad the win column, but his career 4.7 K/9 doesn't do any fantasy favors. View Alvarez as a low-end starter in mixed leagues. Continue to check back for updates as he works his way back from the injury.

Fantasy Tip: Lowrie is hitting .312 with 12 RBI on the season and .400 the last seven days. He's a solid option against Anibal Sanchez.

Oakland Athletics SP Sonny Gray allowed four earned runs, two hits and four walks over two innings in a loss Wednesday, April 27, against the Detroit Tigers. It was the shortest start of his big league career. "I've been out of the zone more than I've wanted early in the season, but until tonight, it hadn't hurt me," Gray said.
Fantasy Tip: Chalk it up as one poor outing for Gray, as fantasy owners shouldn't be too terribly concerned at this point.

Fantasy Tip: Alvarez has considerable upside with the A's as more of a ground-ball pitcher that will call pitcher-friendly O.co Coliseum home. Remember that Alvarez went 12-7 with a 2.65 ERA and was an All-Star as recently as 2014 with the Marlins. Stash him now in deeper mixed and AL-only leagues if he's still out there on the waiver wire.

Fantasy Tip: Reiterating a previous tip, Manaea is an immediate add in all deep mixed and AL-only leagues, and it isn't out of the question to take a flier in all formats. Through 48 minor league starts, he has returned a 2.93 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and a 10.9 K/9. There is huge punchout upside here, and as long as Manaea can limit the free passes, he'll flirt with being a middle-of-the-rotation arm for you fantasy club.

Fantasy Tip: After a slow start, Davis has a .333 average (9-for-27) with two home runs and six RBI in his last seven games. If he's left on the waiver wire in your mixed league and you're looking for power, now is the time to scoop him up. Hitting cleanup tonight against Verlander is a nice place to buy low on Davis in daily setups, too.

Oakland Athletics OF Billy Burns and C Stephen Vogt are not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 27. OF Coco Crisp is in center field and hitting leadoff, C Josh Phegley is catching and batting eighth, while 1B Billy Butler is serving as the designated hitter and is batting sixth against Detroit Tigers SP Justin Verlander.
Fantasy Tip: Crisp is barely hitting over .200 in 54 at-bats this year, so he remains a low-end outfield consideration for DFS despite hitting atop the lineup. Phegley hit just .220 with four home runs against righties last year and isn't all that attractive, either. Butler is in there because he sports a .405 average (34-for-84) with two home runs and 15 RBI against Verlander in his career. He's a sneaky under-the-radar value play tonight.

Oakland Athletics SP Sean Manaea is expected to be recalled from Class AAA Nashville in order to start Friday, April 29, according to multiple sources. He has allowed 16 hits and three runs while walking four and striking out 21 at Nashville. SP Jesse Hahn (finger) was in consideration, but he's dealing with a blister.
Fantasy Tip: Manaea is one of Oakland's top pitching prospects and has dominated in the minors when healthy. He can have trouble commanding his secondary pitches, but he has a high fantasy ceiling. Grab him immediately in deep mixed, AL-only and dynasty formats if he's available. His MLB debut will come against the Houston Astros, who have struggled with strikeouts and are in an offensive funk. Give consideration to starting Manaea immediately in that matchup. With Oakland's fifth starter spot in flux, Manaea could take this opportunity and run with it.

Fantasy Tip: Hill lowered his ERA to 2.42 through five starts and he has six or more strikeouts in each of his past four outings. He has emerged as a must-start in all AL-only leagues, deeper mixed formats and DFS play.
Tue, 26 Apr 2016 23:43:26 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Semien has five homers, but he is still hitting just .197. He is worth using as a middle infield option in AL-only leagues and as a salary saver in DFS.

Oakland Athletics OF Josh Reddick had a three-hit game Tuesday, April 26, against the Detroit Tigers. It was his fourth straight game with at least two hits, and his average has sailed up from .218 to .292 as a result.
Fantasy Tip: Reddick started out rather slowly but he is making up for lost time. He is a must-start in all fantasy formats and a solid play in DFS at any price while running hot.

Oakland Athletics SP Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) worked two innings in a minor-league rehab assignment Monday, April 25, for Class AAA Nashville. He allowed one hit with one strikeouts in two scoreless frames.
Fantasy Tip: Alvarez has allowed two runs - one earned - over five innings with two strikeouts in two rehab appearances so far. Wait until he can officially return to the big club and prove his health in a start or two without any setbacks before plugging him back into the starting lineup.

Fantasy Tip: This is an excellent sign that Alvarez is on the verge of returning to the major league club, and he appears to be ahead of schedule, as he wasn't really expected back for another month or so. Alvarez will have standout potential in his first year with the Athletics and now might be the time to stash him if he's out there on any waiver wires. He was an All-Star as recent as two seasons ago, remember.
