Fantasy Tip: Chapman's fantasy value as an elite closing option will not change if he leaves Cincy. If he joins the Yankees, that'll lessen the value of Andrew Miller, since he'd be moved to a setup role. Stash J.J. Hoover, the expected closer for the Reds if Chapman leaves town.

Fantasy Tip: Capps has been excellent this year with a 1.21 WHIP and a ridiculous 17.0 K/9 rate for the Marlins in a setup role. If he's traded, he'll likely continue to serve in some sort of setup role with the Yankees. His fantasy value is limited without saves, but he's still of use to owners in deeper leagues because of his dominance.

New York Yankees SPs Adam Warren, Luis Severino and Bryan Mitchell are unlikely to be used to fill in in the starting rotation with SP Michael Pineda (forearm) sidelined. The Yankees continue to monitor the starting pitcher market as the trade deadline approaches.
Fantasy Tip: Severino, the club's top minor league pitching prospect, easily has the most upside of this trio and should already be stashed in dynasty and keeper leagues. If he does come up and enter the rotation for the Yanks, he'll surely be popular on the waiver wire in the rest of traditional leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Severino may be the closest to a big-league call-up, especially with injuries decimating the Yankees rotation. All three are candidates to be owned in dynasty and keeper leagues right now, and you may want to consider stashing them in AL-only leagues, too.

Fantasy Tip: Sabathia ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) is giving up 1.8 home runs per nine inning, and his strikeouts per nine have dropped from 9.4 last year to 7.5 this year. As he ages and his velocity drops, Sabathia must be perfect with his pitches or he can be hurt badly. He's now allowed 10 earned runs and five homers in his last two outings. He's a very shaky matchup play on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Kimbrel is rumored to be headed to several teams, so stay tuned.

New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia (dehydration) was sent to the hospital following a 7-6 loss to the Texas Rangers Thursday, July 30, according to manager Joe Girardi. He allowed five runs on nine hits over five innings and received a no-decision.
Fantasy Tip: After a solid start following the All-Star break, Sabathia ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has struggled in back-to-back outings. He is a shot-in-the-dark play at FantasyScore, and the reward is rarely worth the risk.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 21:33:40 -0700
New York Yankees OF Jacoby Ellsbury (ankle) rolled his ankle in the ninth inning of a 7-6 loss to the Texas Rangers Thursday, July 30, but he said he plans to play Friday, July 31, against the Chicago White Sox. He went 1-for-4 with a triple and a run scored.
Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury ($4,600, 9.2% of cap) has just four hits in his last 27 at-bats, and with his ankle possibly limiting his stolen base potential, he should probably be avoided at FantasyScore for the next game or two.

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland is not in the starting lineup Thursday, July 30. OF Ryan Rua draws into the lineup in left field, and he is batting sixth against New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia Thursday.
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Moreland ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) in all fantasy formats Thursday. With a lefty on the hill, it is an opportunity to provide him a night off. Rua ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is batting .197 this season, and he should be viewed as nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore contests Thursday.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 14:19:41 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Odor ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) has been scorching hot since rejoining the Rangers, and he should be owned in all fantasy formats. Rosales ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) should be viewed as nothing more than a low-priced flier for FantasyScore contests Thursday.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 13:40:16 -0700
Fantasy Tip: With Stephen Drew not cutting it at the keystone, Ackley ($2,700, 5.4% of cap) could immediately become the team's starting second baseman. Ackley didn't fare much better with Seattle (.215/.270/.366 with six home runs in 186 at-bats), but this trade could give him everyday playing time, and the move to a short porch in right field in the Bronx means his fantasy value is on the rise.

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees SP Ivan Nova (elbow) is dealing with post-Tommy John issues, and there is nothing new or damaging in his right arm. He is scheduled to make his next start.
Fantasy Tip: Nova ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is 3-3 with a 3.38 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and a weak 4.7 K/9 in six starts (34 2/3 innings) since returning from Tommy John surgery. Starters returning from TJS typically go through a transition period in which their velocity and control are shaky, so Nova may not be back to full form until 2016. He's purely a matchup play on FantasyScore for the rest of the season.

Updating previous reports, New York Yankees SP Michael Pineda (forearm) is dealing with a Grade 1 forearm strain. RP Andrew Miller dealt with the same injury this year and missed a month of action. Pineda will land on the disabled list, but the Yankees think he will pitch again this year.
Fantasy Tip: Pineda ($7,400, 14.8% of cap) should be held onto in all formats. It's unclear who will replace him in the rotation, but it could be top pitching prospect Luis Severino, who is 7-0 with a 1.91 ERA at Class AAA this year. Severino should be owned in keeper formats, and he's worth stashing now in AL-only and deep mixed leagues, too.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 11:16:37 -0700
Correcting a previous report, New York Yankees SP CC Sabathia is expected to start against the Texas Rangers Thursday, July 30. SP Bryan Mitchell was believed to be making the start, but Sabathia will be pushed ahead a day with Mitchell offering long-relief protection, if needed.
Fantasy Tip: Sabathia ($5,500, 11.0% of cap) has allowed four earned runs or more in four of his last seven starts with a 5.63 ERA and 30 strikeouts through 40 innings during the stretch. He should be viewed as a high-risk, high-reward No. 2 starting pitcher flier by FantasyScore players Thursday. He is a desperation start in year-long formats, too.
Thu, 30 Jul 2015 11:06:09 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Severino is a top pitching prospect and sports a 1.91 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP and a 7.3 K/9 through 61 1/3 innings over 11 starts with Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. Fantasy owners in AL-only, cavernous mixed and keeper/dynasty leagues should take a long look at adding the youngster in case he is called up. He is worth monitoring in the majority of formats, too.
