Yankee president Randy Levine adamantly denied the rumors: "I can say to you there is absolutely, positively nothing to this. The Steinbrenners are not selling the team." However, sources indicate the recent sale of the Dodgers to a group that includes NBA legend Magic Johnson is just one reason why the Steinbrenner family may be looking to sell the team, which experts estimate could be worth up to $3 billion.

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira said the approach at the plate he has been using this season is not working because he has put more balls in play then he would like. Teixeira said he entered the season trying to get more hits since people complained about his batting average but his new approach has hurt his power. "I've just been putting too many balls in play, I think," Teixeira said. "While last year, 39 home runs but a low batting average wasn't good enough, I think I'd rather hit 39 home runs than 20 or 15. I'd rather drive in 111 runs than 80. I'm going to be more aggressive."
