Fantasy Tip: Drew ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has continued his poor offensive showing from last year, hitting just .155 (11-for-71) with four home runs and 10 RBI. Most FantasyScore gamers won't be on Drew's scent tonight, but he could come in handy as a nice value play against Dickey, who Drew is 6-for-18 against in his career with one RBI.

New York Yankees C Brian McCann is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 4. C J.R. Murphy is starting behind the plate and hitting eighth in the batting order against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey.
Fantasy Tip: Murphy ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) has five hits in 19 at-bats this season with one RBI. Ryan is purely a deep sleeper for a cheap price at FantasyScore. He'll help save valuable bucks at other positions, however.

New York Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira is not in the starting lineup Monday, May 4. 1B Garrett Jones is starting at first base and hitting seventh in the batting order against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey.
Fantasy Tip: Although Jones ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has struggled in limited duty this year (.167-0-0), he does hit right-handers much better and is 6-for-16 (.375) with an RBI in his career against Dickey. Consider Jones an acceptable under-the-radar value play at FantasyScore this evening.

Fantasy Tip: Ellsbury ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) had a recent history of injury, but he appears to have shaken that off. Ellsbury is worth putting in your lineup as long as his numbers have warmed up.

Fantasy Tip: Nova is on track to return some time next month, and as always you will want to monitor his progress once he's back in active duty.
Sat, 02 May 2015 08:10:43 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Petit has not had much success at the plate this season and is entering the game with a .192 batting average. Petit should not be used in most fantasy leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Drew ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) probably is not playing since the team is facing a left-handed starter. Gregorio Petit will start at second base but is not a great option for fantasy owners.

Fantasy Tip: Young ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is off to a solid start to his season with a .305 batting average, five home runs and 11 RBI. He does have only two hits in his last six games but could still be a solid option for owners on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Beltran ($2,800, 5.6% of cap) has had some problems at the plate this season, so he likely is receiving a day off. Chris Young ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) will take his place and could be a starting option on FantasyScore.

Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) has slowed down a bit after a hot start, but he still has six homers and a .557 slugging percentage. His power potential makes him a high-risk, high-reward option at FantasyScore.
Fri, 01 May 2015 12:50:33 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Rodriguez ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Friday. He is rewarding those who took a speculative leap of faith with him this season, though. He has 13 runs, five home runs and 13 RBI, although his batting average is just .232. Jones ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) is off to a miserable start and just 5-for-27 at the dish. Consider him a low-priced flier for FantasyScore contests, but you should aim higher at first base.

New York Yankees 2B Stephen Drew is not a candidate to be replaced at second base by 2B Jose Pirela (concussion), who is recovering from a concussion, according to general manager Brian Cashman. "No," Cashman said. "I think Drew's been fine. Right now, I'm not looking at anyone being an alternative at second base to Drew. I'm surprised you asked the question." Drew is currently hitting only .177 in 62 at-bats. 2B Rob Refsnyder has started slow in the minors, and New York would prefer that both Pirela and Refsnyder develop more if they won't see regular at-bats in the majors. Pirela has just one hit in 14 at-bats in the minors during his rehab, and he is further along as a second baseman than Refsnyder.
Fantasy Tip: Drew ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has displayed some power at Yankee Stadium's short porch in right field, but other than that, he hasn't done much for his fantasy owners, and he's not a very attractive second base option at FantasyScore unless the matchup is a slam dunk. Only consider stashing Pirela in deeper AL-only leagues for now.

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez went 0-for-6 with four strikeouts in a loss Wednesday, April 29, and he is 5-for-36 (.139) since April 17, when he hit two home runs. The four-strikeout game was just his fifth four-strikeout game of his career and first since 2008. He remains one home run shy of tying Willie Mays for fourth place on the all-time home run list with 660.
Fantasy Tip: Rodriguez's ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) slump of late is leading his owners to wonder whether his quick start was a mirage. It remains to be seen, but until he picks things back up, it might be a good idea to avoid him at FantasyScore, depending on the matchup. Trying to get career homer No. 660 out of the way could be causing him to press at the plate, too.

Fantasy Tip: Betances flipped the switch after spring training once the regular season arrived. After a dismal camp that saw his velocity down, he has bounced back to strike out 17 and walk seven in 11 1/3 scoreless frames in April. His velocity is back up again, too, which should comfort his owners, even though he's currently the eighth-inning setup man to Andrew Miller.

New York Yankees SP Masahiro Tanaka (forearm, wrist) landed on the disabled list with a sore wrist and forearm strain, and manager Joe Girardi is worried about his pitcher's long-term health. However, Girardi wouldn't speculate as to whether Tanaka's recent injuries were related to the partially torn ulnar collateral ligament that he is dealing with.
Fantasy Tip: You should be pretty worried about Tanaka ($7,800, 15.6% of cap) if you own him in any leagues, too. You won't have to worry about using him at FantasyScore for a month. Stash him in a DL spot and look on the waiver wire for pitching replacements. Chase Whitley ($3,000, 6.0% of cap) will be a low-priced sleeper in daily games now that he's in the starting rotation. He had a fine first outing against the Tampa Bay Rays in his season debut last night.
