Cardinals | Carson Palmer threw too much last offseason

Thu, 20 Jul 2017 06:45:08 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer wore his arm out from throwing too much last offseason, according to head coach Bruce Arians. Arians said they've found a good routine for Palmer.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer had a mediocre September, but he hit his stride in October. He completed 66.7 percent of his passes for 1,206 yards (his best month) with five touchdowns and two interceptions. At 37, it's hard to make a case for him as a strong QB1 in fantasy.

Cardinals | David Johnson ready for big workload

Sun, 16 Jul 2017 13:12:05 -0700

Arizona Cardinals RB David Johnson said he believes he can handle 30 touches per game like head coach Bruce Arians hopes to see this season. "I feel like there's room for me to definitely carry more. I think the biggest thing is me learning and getting better and improving. So I feel like I can definitely get that 30 touches, not all rushing obviously, 30 touches per game," Johnson said.

Fantasy Tip: Johnson has become one of the top all-around running backs in the NFL and should have a chance to post at least 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in 2017. He should be one of the first players selected in fantasy drafts and is a weekly starter for fantasy owners.

Cardinals | John Brown ready for big season?

Sat, 15 Jul 2017 21:31:18 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown will be the main beneficiary of the departure of Minnesota Vikings WR Michael Floyd, according to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo! Sports. Floyd accounted for 88 targets for the Cardinals last season.

Fantasy Tip: Brown was a 1,000-yard receiver in 2015, and now that he is healthy and the No. 2 option behind Larry Fitzgerald, WR3 protection is a good bet.

Cardinals | Bruce Arians won't stop coaching

Thu, 13 Jul 2017 12:19:19 -0700

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said the 2017 season will not be his last season of coaching, as long as he is healthy. Arians added that he'd like to at least finish out his contract, which goes until 2018. That contract also includes a team option for the 2019 season. Arians underwent surgery early this year to remove a cancerous piece of his kidney and continues to recover from rotator cuff surgery.

Cardinals | JJ Nelson working to improve

Thu, 06 Jul 2017 18:55:45 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR JJ Nelson spent to offseason working on his route running.

Fantasy Tip: The speedy Nelson emerged as a big-play weapon for the Cardinals last year, but his fantasy value was often tied to big plays. Consider him an all-or-nothing WR4.

Cardinals | Larry Fitzgerald effective from slot

Thu, 06 Jul 2017 18:40:10 -0700

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald finished tied for second in the NFL last season with 63 catches from the slot.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald led the NFL in total receptions last year, and his ability to line up all over the field should help the veteran remain effective. He is a high-floor WR3 with WR2 potential in PPR formats.

Cardinals | Budda Baker not too far behind

Thu, 29 Jun 2017 19:52:30 -0700

Arizona Cardinals S Budda Baker said he doesn't feel too far behind despite his college schedule preventing him from attending OTAs. "The first couple days I was dying, but I got acclimated to it and now it's what, it's 100 out here right now, and I'm thinking it's cool," Baker said.

Cardinals | Carson Palmer unsure about future

Tue, 27 Jun 2017 16:12:21 -0700

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer said he is not ready to say how much longer he will play football.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer will be on the field in 2017 and will have some terrific weapons to work with in the passing game. He has thrown for at least 4,000 yards in four of the last five seasons and has 61 touchdowns over the last two seasons. He should be considered a low-end No. 1 or a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues.

Cardinals | Chad Williams likely No. 5 WR in 2017

Tue, 20 Jun 2017 20:51:05 -0700

Arizona Cardinals third-round WR Chad Williams will likely begin the season as the team's fifth receiver, according to 98.7 Arizona's Mike Jurecki.

Fantasy Tip: It's not a big surprise despite the early hype he has generated, considering the Cardinals have a reputation recently of not getting much out of their rookie class and the fact Arizona has Larry Fitzgerald, John Brown, J.J. Nelson and Jaron Brown ahead of him on the depth chart. He is being groomed as Fitzgerald's replacement, however, so he should have significant value in 2018 and beyond.
