Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (knee) said he has been running for two or three weeks and throwing five times a week. He is "pretty close" to being able to participate in a normal workout, and he said he moved past his post-surgery "funk" when he was able to sweat during workouts. "I'm going to be ready to rock 'n' roll by the season," Palmer said. "Definitely going to be ready by that, definitely going to be ready for camp. And shooting to be getting reps in our mandatory (minicamp) and hopefully some of our OTA practices."
Fantasy Tip: As long as Palmer doesn't overdo it this offseason, we have confidence that he'll be ready to go for the start of the 2015 season. At age 35, Palmer can still be an effective quarterback in the NFL, when healthy. The Cardinals are intent on adding a running back to compete with Andre Ellington, too. Palmer will still be able to deliver QB1 production in the right matchups, but he'll likely be best off as your backup fantasy QB.

Fantasy Tip: Palmer should be the starting quarterback next season as long as he is healthy. He likely will be a No. 2 fantasy quarterback most weeks but could be a starting option against certain matchups.

Fantasy Tip: Carson probably will not do much during offseason workouts, but it appears he could be ready for the start of camp. Palmer played very well before suffering the injury and will have weapons to work with on offense. Palmer should be considered a No. 2 fantasy quarterback next season who could be a low-end No. 1 quarterback against certain matchups.

Dallas Cowboys impending free-agent RB DeMarco Murray could be targeted by the Arizona Cardinals in free agency this offseason. The Cardinals learned the hard way last year that RB Andre Ellington isn't the workhorse back they were hoping he'd be.
Fantasy Tip: Arizona would be an interesting landing spot for Murray. The Cardinals are a team in win-now mode, and he'd be an excellent addition to this offense. Murray will continue to be an RB1 with some injury risk wherever he lands in free agency.

Updating a previous report, Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald is scheduled to count $10.85 million against the salary cap in 2015 and $15.85 million in 2016. His contract will void after two seasons, and the Cardinals will have $4.85 million of dead money on their salary cap in 2017 and 2018.
Fantasy Tip: Fitzgerald was limited to 784 yards and two touchdowns this past season but should have a better season with Carson Palmer returning. Owners probably should consider Fitzgerald as a No. 3 wide receiver in drafts next season with the chance be become a No. 2 receiver.

Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians is not a proponent of spread offenses in the NFL because they often set back the development of a young quarterback, such as San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick or Washington Redskins QB Robert Griffin III. "That ain't playing quarterback. There's no leadership involved there. There might be leadership on the bench, but when you get them and they have to use verbiage and they have to spit the verbiage out and change the snap count, they are light years behind," Arians said.

Minnesota Vikings RB Adrian Peterson could be a trade option for the Arizona Cardinals with QB Carson Palmer and WR Larry Fitzgerald nearing the end of their careers in the desert. The Cardinals are built to win now, and The Arizona Republic's Kent Somers said he wouldn't be surprised if general manager Steve Keim and head coach Bruce Arians elect to pursue Peterson.
Fantasy Tip: The Cardinals have to be worried that Andre Ellington, who had just 3.3 yards per carry last year before being injured, won't be able to fill a full-time running back role. Peterson landing in Arizona would surely be intriguing. Regardless of where he's playing in 2015, Peterson will probably in consideration for fantasy football's No. 1 overall pick.

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer might restructure his contract to ease his cap number of $14.5 million for 2015, according to a source. As long as the team does not increase his salary they can redo the deal he just signed during the 2014 season. According to reports, a $9.5 million roster bonus might be converted to a signing bonus.
Fantasy Tip: Palmer will be the starter in Arizona if he can stay healthy. He had a nightmare season in 2014 with injuries, but he can still be very solid for fantasy owners with Arizona's strong receiving corps and the good hands of running backs out of the backfield.
