McNulty spent a number of years working on the staff with new Tampa Bay head coach Greg Schiano at Rutgers, and he was considered a shoe-in for the OC job, a source said.

He is at the team's facilities Friday, Jan. 27, to start the rehab process. Wells should be able to participate in offseason work if his rehab goes as planned.

The Arizona Cardinals have spoken with former Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians about joining the coaching staff as a position coach but it is believed Arians is not very interested in becoming a position coach again. If Arians does join the coaching staff, he would either be the quarterbacks coach or the wide receivers coach.

Former Kansas City Chiefs head coach Todd Haley is unlikely to return to the Arizona Cardinals' coaching staff. Talks between Haley and the Cardinals have been amicable; however, coming to agreement on a position that meets the Cardinals' needs and matches Haley's career goals has been elusive. Head coach Ken Whisenhunt doesn't want to make a major shakeup on his offensive staff. The only open position is the quarterbacks coach job, and Haley may not be open to such a role after serving as both an offensive coordinator and head coach in the past.

Arizona Cardinals SS Adrian Wilson is due a roster bonus of $3 million in the second week of March, and his base salary for the 2012 season is $6.5 million. Wilson's cap number this year will be $9.75 million, but the team does not have a replacement on their current roster, so they might have to pay the veteran.

Arizona Cardinals RB Ryan Williams (knee) is on target for training camp, and he is expected to begin jogging soon. The training staff and coaching staff likely won't allow him to take part in anything more than individual drills if he is ready during the organized team activities (OTAs) in the summer. "Next year is going to be a good year," Williams said. "I want to be a fan favorite, I want to be the 'X' factor, and because the coaches expect (so) much from me and they support me so much. It's a great feeling to have the coaches behind you, and when they think highly of you, you don't want to make them think otherwise."

Arizona Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson was named as first-team All-Pro as a return man by The Associated Press Friday, Jan. 6. The rookie tied an NFL record with four punt returns for touchdowns. "It's quite an honor, not just for me but for the other 10 guys on the return unit and our (special teams) coach Kevin Spencer," Peterson said.
